Don't you think Garissa deserves a spot up there?

Give it 5 years and big things will come out of this city.

Such shit ranking by the majority of you wallahi. Seriously!

Judging by city planning, infrastructure, road networks, transport, location and business opportunities. Then my honest ranking would be:

1. Djibouti
2. Mogadishu
3. Hargeisa

Also don't judge a city by it's size. Rome, Amsterdam, Dubai etc are smaller than Lagos but yet more superior.

In terms of potentials these towns have the best opportunity to become the phoenix of Somali regions:

Coastal superiority and opportunities:

1. Mogadishu
2. Djibouti
3. Kismaayo
4. Marka
5. Baraawe
6. Bosaso
7. Berbera

All Somali towns that pass through rivers like Beledweyne, Baardheere, Jamaame etc also have big opportunities of being highly developed and rich.

But a slong as Somalia belongs peaceful and united it has the potential of being a modern and rich country including the Somali regions like Somali Galbeed, NFD and Djibouti.

In all honesty Bossaso has probably surpassed Kismayo. Kismayo has been ravaged by almost 25 years of nonstop war

Garissa is just a typical Somali town. Poor infrastructure, poor city planning and dusty. But it has potentials

1. muqdishu
2. kismaayo
3. boosaaso

somalia's geographical location is priceless.
kismaayo and mogadishu both have the best climate.
somalia's coastal cities will surpass all other towns and cities that are landlocked.
i would add berbera, but berbera is too damn hot.

If it wasn't for this river and the British Garissa would have been somewhere near Nairobi.

The city is very dependent on the river and the most liked fruit is Avocado. :P

Not anymore, everything has/is changing now. With 24/hrs electricity, water running in every home even the outskirts.

My second list was coastal towns ranking that have future potential.

But yes Bosaso has surpassed Kismaayo in SOMALI STANDARDS. Bosaso is not so amazing, it just has more Somali standard houses. It has poor city planning and ugly houses. Djibouti is the only modern Somali city so far followed by Mogadishu.

Somali standards is all we're talking about bro. If we're talking about international standards then We are living like dogs. Somalia always says 'potential, potential, potential' but bottom line is after awhile that line gets old. We live in a 'Show Me' world and Somalia never has anything to show.

Horta there are only 2 somali cities in the world who have the actual urban planning. That's Xamar and Djibouti city. The rest are only towns, too small to be called cities.
If it comes to which is better, Xamar or Djbouti. Xamar will win hands down. A city with good weather in the middle of river and ocean. Also it has the best future ahead, real estate is booming and skyscrapers will appear within the next 5 years. The city is getting bigger day by day. Only thing bad there is the safety, which will get better iA.
Djibouti on the other hand has the biggest port in horn of africa and has the best roads in somali standards currently. Also it's the only somali city with railway station. But it has reached it's peak and will not make major developments anymore. The biggest problem there is the hot unbearable weather. The city has no future i'm afraid.

forget the wanlaweyn haters, this is the true list of top 3 ethnic somali cities

1. hargeisa - this city is now hands down the most cosmopolitan city clan wise, consisting of all somalis from somaliland and elsewhere in the somali penisula. good climate, quality of life and opportunities for work/leisure. only needs a dash of urban planning to complete its revival after late 80s destruction
2. djibouti city - slightly better than hargeisa in terms of urban infrastructure but its smaller and very hot. however very entertaining lifestyle for liberal minded people e.g. nightclubs........the somali ibiza
3. dire dawa - this is majority somali ok and it is very planned yet not as prominent as other two cities i mentioned

There all Somali cities , our cities would be better off specialising on certain things, every city can't be like Mogadishu (pre 90).

Kismayo, if peaceful can become as large as Mogadishu or Hargeisa.
It sits at the mouth of the largest river in somalia, has a world class port and airport, and has paved roads. Kismayo will expand exponentially as peace reigns. It is already growing quickly, let us see how it turns out. :eat:
