You're correct. Generally all the people in the Horn are related and stemmed from same or close family.

Beyond the man made rules that began in the 14-15th century, we can say that the Horn can be broken into two main families; The Northerners and the Southerners.

The northerners are the northern people who preserved their original ancestry and way of life as well as culture. We can pool together North Ethiopia including Wollo, Gondar and Tigray, Djibouti, Somaliland, Haud, northern parts of Ogaden and Eritrea together.

The southerners are pure Bantus or those infiltrated by Bantu genotype in the south of the Horn and they mainly consist of southern Ethiopia including Oromo, Wolayta, Gurage, Kenya, southern Ogaden and Somalia.

The northern folks almost entirely preserved the original family; its where original history comes from, languages, culture and superiority is second to none.

Physical features alone do not define "Bantunistan" but attitudes, principles, values and culture. These things define us more than anything.
