Re: Back from JigJiga
Reer Awdal I meant the clan but yes the various Godabiirsay clans in JigJiga are natives to the land and you have to remember that Awdal and JigJiga are very close and share huge border so they are the same people....Yes being Makaahiil myself, I know the Makaahiil - Samaroon have big numbers in JigJiga areas.JuliusCaesar wrote:Guhad 123 you shouldn't say reer awdal
the Aden Younis -( Makaahil - Samaroon)
of Jigjiga have been there since Jig jiga was first started, I'm sure you saw many of them
they are Reer JigJigga, and not recent migrants from Awdal,
though there are a few random Samaroons in Jig jigga chilling about.
Also I heard the Jaarso have mad business in Jigjiga, and have their own neighborhoods,
but it could be just bragging on their part, I'll check out jig jiga soon inshallah 2016.
the pictures were fantastic though, thanks for them sxb.
Did you get to check out Baadiye?
Hilaac, in a-adeer chill out; Cabdi Johnson is a veteran Somalinet member and is half-OG so xishood

This thread should be an official one for the development of Jigjiga, pictures of the city should be flown into this thread.

You are expected to put on a blindfold when you get to Jigjiga waxaas ma yeelayno...Hormar iyo Nabad yaana rabin lkn we will not accept the kind of peace and development on offer which is essentially the same rule except they want ONLF to disappear by dazzling us with a few roads and some shiny buildings.

Ethiopia will collapse, the Amahara will start a civil war if things keep going the way they are.
Then ONLF can take that opportunity and forcefully declare a state, just like Eritrea did in 1993.
We must have patience, and we must think long term. The xabash's back will be broken again, I am sure of that.

But having seen the beauty of women in places like Dire Dawa, dude you don't want to be taken off the market

I bet our good friend Dr. Yalaxoow would never come back to that azz-busting driving job if he ever gets there....
Re: Back from JigJiga
The fact remains that Somalis are the so called third effing largest ethnic group in the whole of Ethiopia, only surpassed by Oromos & Amharas!
Add to that, the second largest region in the whole country belongs to Somalis......Yet they are as a people less significant than even beyond langaab Hararis (Just using them as an example, there are so many other groups I could've used) who number 100k forget about anyone else
Think about that for a second folks..
There are more Somalis in Ethiopia than the number of Afars & Gurages added together. What exactly are Somalis worth in Ethiopia? Nothing.......giving up the resistance at this point in time is a joke & an insult in my opinion. Somalis are almost non-existent in the political to even the daily social aspects of country.

Re: Back from JigJiga
Chinaman;
I don't know if you are just talking because you have no facts brother. In Adis, Somalis own entire districts and own/run all the businesses mainly the big businesses such the hotels and restaurants. The entire Bole district is a Somali district. As for the government institutions, even though we are the third largest group, we actually occupy more federal government positions than Oromo and Amhaaro according to my sources. We have two ministerial portfolios at the federal level and way too many directors and senior administrators in various federal agencies and ministries.
Take Dir Dhaba, the second capital city of Ethiopia, it is an almost Somali city; mayor, majority city councils, and so on. There are two local TV channels in Dire Dawa; one is in Somali and the other is Oromo. Today we can argue that almost 70% of Dire Dawa businesses and houses are owned by Somalis. The biggest and the most vibrant district in Dire Daw today is called Saabiyaan and I just wish you drive through the expensive villas in that district and see it for yourself.
As for the DDS, the Somalis get the biggest budget than any other state or region in Ethiopia. Just this year alone, the allocated spending budget for DDS was over 320 million US dollars; more then Somali Federal government + Puntland + Somaliland combined. Yes huge portions of that will be spent on security apparatuses but even half of that getting spent in infrastructures and social services is huge. As I said previously with the current of pace of development, Jigjiga in few years will be the most beautiful Somali populated city in the Horn.
Bring facts bud; the struggle you are talking about have been crippled by Somaliland and Puntland and now when we finally have awaken and realized our interests, you talk about struggle; struggle for what? Entire Somalia is today controlled and run by AMISON and neighboring countries so I am not sure what you are talking about.

Re: Back from JigJiga
What you said sounds great mate, I honestly hope the pace of development increases & continues. To be honest with you, Last time I was in Ethiopia was in 2004 (to visit my relatives from there), at the time I was only 11 so yes, I'm pretty (very) ignorant about the place but in all honesty
, What I was speaking about was more to do with how in Ethiopia, when the discussions revolves about ethnic groups, a lot of times Somalis don't even come up in the discussion. Also when I look at cities like Adama or even Awassa for example, Jigjiga seems nowhere close. I'm planing to go back to PL & Ethiopia next summer inshallah, I'll make a Somalinet thread about it.
