1. A recent north to south migration could be true. But you seem to not understand the timescales being referred to here. The author of that piece was talking about the origins of the Somali people. Not the most recent migration. Obviously, a north to south migration could have happened in the recent past after our initial migration from south to north. Hell, we have good historical evidence of a north to south migration by the Darod (specifically the Marehan) in the 1800s. That doesn't mean that the Darod originated from somewhere north of somalia. All it means that the most recent migration was north to south. The author is talking about 5,000 years ago. At that time, they were no Somali people. There were no Oromo. No Canfar. Nobody except the first cushitic speaking tribes. There were only our ancestors as well as the ancestors of the Oromo, Canfar, Rendille, and other cushtic speakers. These people originated in southern ethipia/northern kenya near the Tana/Omo Lakes.

2. The north is the most barren region NOW. In the past that might not have been so. Did you know that 5-10,000 years ago the Sahara was green? That it had giant lakes, large animals grazing on it, and lots of patrolists and hunter gatherers living there? Climate changes over time. Its highly likely that around 5,000 years ago when the earliest cushtic speakers were coming along that the north was more green and had more water and grazing land than the south. Then when the Sahara began to dry up and northern Somalia probably followed suit which is why Somali tribes ended by migrating down south again.

3. The article is written by a Somali. And he's relying on the most recent linguistic and archealogical evidence. The consensus is that the cushitic languages (of which Somali is one) originated in southern ethiopia/northern kenya. Maybe you are the one with the problem with the truth and history. Wow they actually look kind of somali. Interesting, either for the first time a somali had the stronger genes or she happened to have weak genes.

I known a few somali/white kids and they look exactly like the kids up there. The only difference is the boy in the video has normal somali hair with that mini afro. Sometimes the white/somali kids have straight hair which makes them look like algerians or something. Other times they have hair like us and can pass as an extremely light skin somali.

You guys need to stop confusing somalis with already significant non-somali ancestry in their past with full-blooded somalis. It would be like me saying African Americans have weak genes because Paula Patton's baby with Robin Thicke came out all white. She already had significant white ancestry which is why her kid came out looking full white.

we live right on the equator. ain't no reason for light skin to be native to our people. the only way it can come is from mixing with people that aren't naturally dark like us. and since we reside so close to Arabia, it doesn't take much to put one and one together.
