Re: Nothing beats German Engineering.
They did similar deals with a lot of countries. They would give the said country part of the manufacturing and design in exchange for airplane purchases. Unfortunately it made the supply chain too large and caused long delays. Now the company is beginning to pull back and design more things in house.GAMER wrote:You are right about that sxb, it's designed in house by Boeing but is manufactured in Japan.Shirib wrote:Gamer,
The design is primarily American, it's one of the few things the company actually designs.
.
I was reading an article about that not long ago, and they said the reason BA outsourced the Wings to Japan was to get Japanese airliners to buy the 787.

The U.S is probably headed in that direction too, because of investor greed. These Wall St. investors demand companies with U.S manufacturing to relocate to low cost Asian countries where labor is cheap and the profit margins are great.Shirib wrote:None of those cars except Aston Martin are actually British owned anymore. You guys not only outsourced your labor but you sold off your companies too.thehappyone wrote:it's expensive to manufacture things in the uk, they create then sell it or outsource, just look at the british car industry, the best cars in the world, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Range Rover, Aston Martin, Jaguar, all built abroad, apart from the last one maybe. Besides, unlike the Germans who only know engineering, the brits excel in Banking, Insurance, and Oil (shell/BP).GAMER wrote: Then how do you explain Germany having almost x2 the economy of that nation Island UK?
Heck, even France has a bigger economy and heavy industries than UK.
Where as in Germany, Mittlestand (Small family owned companies) aren't concerned with meeting quarterly earnings. And satisfying greedy investors.

Mittlestand is a prime example of German innovativeness. Super rich family--ownership--not concerned with the usual greed board demands, but they invest in quality which in the end brings in loads of cash. The trick is looking at the big picture. For example--there is this German company called Datacard group--they manufacture printers, lasers etc etc---the company is making loads of many from many facets--the same family owns Mercedes too.

Re: Nothing beats German Engineering.
Well, I don't know about machines or electronics but I can say when it comes to the cars, nothing beats the germans. The Jap make reliable cars that last 4ever, but the Germ make cars that will make you foaming. I mean the ride, comfort, power, tech features, safety, elegant, name it. I went to a 300 km journey with my friend's Audi A8 2012 and man I was not even tired after driving for over 3 hours. But the thing with Germ cars it's full of computers. If one of theme go down your screwed.
But for anything else long live the German.

I'm not 100% Basra, but I beleive the Swiss are the bankers of the world. Switzerland is where all the rich people keep their money.Basra- wrote:loooooooooooooooooooooolTogTogdeer wrote:Each Country is good at something:

U r right!UK is good for nothing! Napoleon called Britain a nation of shop keepers! Good observation by the way! I am glad USA Is good at what is needed for 21st century!
But curious--what is so unique about Swiss in finance and banking? Just because rich people like to bank there don't mean they are good in banking lol maybe they have good tax system or maybe rich folks like to hang out places furthest from poor people.
I also forgot to mention:

Re: Nothing beats German Engineering.
There is a difference between building an engineered products vs. being the designing engineer. The best way to evaluate the best engineering in the world is to look at best engineering university in the world and unfortunately Germany engineers are not anywhere near the top. Singapore has better engineering eduction and universities than Germany.
Germans work the least hours in Europe and are very productive but to say that they are good engineers is exaggeration. Anyone who wants to design or create something comes to the States because the engineering technology and brains are here:
