Here is a video on slavery and Islam. Don't let these xayawaans deceive you and misguide you from the right path. They come with half-truths and incomplete knowledge, and then they claim that Islam permits enslaving people. No it does not. In Islam, it is haraam to do such a thing, and the only "slaves" which exist are the captured POW's during a time of war. Otherwise, enslaving free people is prohibited. Even in the 21st century, countries like America and Britain "enslave" their POW's by putting them in prison and sometimes giving them labor. During the time of the Prophet, and especially during the time of the Golden Period of Islam, it was extremely impractical to imprison large amounts of POW's who were captured during the battles between the Muslims and the Persians, and the battles between the Muslims and the Romans. So Islam, being the practical religion that it is, stipulated that POW's be distributed amongst the Muslim combatants once the war is completed. Only up until very recently was it even possible to imprison large amounts of people at any given time. It doesn't make sense that in the middle of a war, the Muslims just free the captured enemy combatants. You would have to subdue them, ie. "enslave" them but only under very strict circumstances. So a Muslim wasn't permitted to beat, or insult, or overwork his "slave". His slave was entitled to the same standard of living as his "Owner"....and if the slave requested freedom, then it is the obligation of the Master to free his slave and leave him be (Quran 24:33)

actually thats innovations because Islam is allowed you to sell or buy a slave in open market, which means some fat man who never went so called Jihad can just walk in to any market and buy a slave, so according many hadiths children could be slaves even born whit in. so about slave could be only the captured POW's is a reformation which come for the last 100 when western world abolished and forbid Slavery.

Narrated Basrah:

A man from the Ansar called Basrah said: I married a virgin woman in her veil. When I entered upon her, I found her pregnant. (I mentioned this to the Prophet). The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: She will get the dower, for you made her vagina lawful for you. TThe child will be your slave. When she has begotten (a child), flog her (according to the version of al-Hasan). The version of Ibn AbusSari has: You people, flog her, or said: inflict hard punishment on him.

children could be born as slaves so you see it was not only captured POWs who were slaves.. and again God know everything why like alcohol and other staff just forbidds it Slavery ...

so My Islam secularim sufi islam will declare Abrogated and out of date all verses about slavery in the Quran.. and we will reform Islam to a better version and modern one

2. Read again what I wrote. Islam only permits taking POW's as slaves during a time of war. And there are plenty of restrictions on how you treat them. In Islam it is haraam to even insult or beat them. And if they request freedom, then it is obligatory in Islam to grant them freedom.

That isn't slavery. That's indentured servitude at the WORST.

The problem with people like you, people with low IQ's and a weak understanding of history, is that you assume that slavery is what's depicted in the movie "12 Years a Slave" and "Roots"....where free people are captured, abused, and made to work in fields for 16 hours a day doing backbreaking labour.

Its false that islam only allows slavery on POW . Islam allows to sell and buy slaves. Also islam allows having a children slaves. Just read again that Sahih hadith. There are tons of evidance that islam allows of having muslim slaves also. My friend no matter what slavery is wrong .

Obligatory? More like highly favored. You can free a slave after a half century of servitude and you can choose to never free a slave, what is noble about that?

Yalaxow is correct and you are mistaken. Slave markets are completely halal because property ("that which your right hand possesses") can be bought and sold and the act was never made haram. Also, you cannot dispute the hereditary nature of slavehood. What happens to the children of two slaves?

The discussion of Islam reformation is definitely evident in many platforms and I think its nothing new. As the world evolves, so will the issues presented to us that we need to find answers for from an Islamic perspective. Given that we know Islam is complete, the issue then becomes that of interpretation. There is a definite intellectual crisis within Muslims in the world in how we should tackle issues facing us in the 21st century especially muslim in the West. I'm not a scholar, but I do think the interpretations of Quranic text and hadith would need to be presented in a fashion conducive to the issues pertinent to us today.
