I am guessing there has been a decline in white monkeys or they all did tahriib.
I saw hyenas too when I was little, in the Hawd region near the somaliland-ethiopia border. But they are all gone now.
Things have changed a lot since my fathers generation and my grandfathers generations, when the elephants used to roam around.
100 years ago Isaaqs did not use to live south of sheikh.
Ever heard of the HJ migration story?

My great grandmother bless her soul, told us Sheikh was originally settled by Absame. Once, a convoy of HA merchants were passing through the mountains when the Ogaadeens ambushed them and shot them dead which prompted a war between HA and Ogadeen. They were pushed back all the way to the southern outskirts of Harta-Sheikh and they learnt not to mess with Iidoors again. I'm not trolling, ask your grandparents.
