Very true. Public displays of affection are frowned upon in Somali culture. You're not supposed to kiss your wife in the presence of others at all, especially your parents or your children. It's funny because even in Somali weddings, it's actually frowned upon for the bride to be smiling too hard during her own wedding ceremony, because older Somali women would gossip that she's "too excited" about having sex with her husband a few hours later in the hotel on their wedding night

I've been to a couple of weddings where that was the case. A Somali bride was smiling too much while dancing at her wedding ceremony, and all of the older Somali women were gossiping like crazy, talking about how she's way too excited to have sex with her husband. This is actually frowned upon in Somali culture.

But I noticed that the younger generation of Somali fobs tend to be very romantic, and I know plenty of fobs in Somalia, Kenya, and the Arab States who are extremely romantic when they are dating a woman. Whether they remain romantic after the wedding is a question that still needs to be answered.
