I am having some difficulties between law that i supposed follow and my moral values/personal moral code. previously, i hit drunk man in my garage knowing cups where looking for him.

i thought he didnt deserved to go jail for that and few hours after alcahol run out i asked him to go to police and surronded to them. my problem now, that kindness act(or thaught)) hunting me down now.

the guy has court and i may be called to stand winess, to answer question, his situation before he entered my garage, if he was drunk or not!

i know how to manupilate the law.court and get away with out putting him in trouble. my question is ; im loosing sleep oer it knowing, i cannot lie about it and i dont want give cops what they want to put the poor guy away for a year at least. knowing very well, cops themself and many official drink it but they will never be caught!


i need some brain storm guys. what i can do with out being a liar under oath. lying not an option though.

With that said, you can still help him whilst telling the truth. As the prophet (saw) said, “If a friend among your friends errs, make seventy excuses for them.” As someone mentioned, maybe you can look into why he was drinking alcohol in the first place.

Hyper, the punishment for drinking in Islam is 100 lashes. If they are not using the Islamic punishment, then you ought to help the guy. If the guy wasn't holding beer bottle in his hands, you can simply tell the judge that you are not sure if he was drinking or not. At least in the states , that would let a person walk away .

If he had beer bottle in his hand then you tell the judge he had beer bottle , but you are not sure if he was drinking. That would also free him

You have a great opportunity to help him. You stated that he is a great man and has a great charitable personality when he is not drunk. Knowing the legal consequences of drunkness in public in Qatar for the poor is heavy punishment, while the powerful will not be admonished, you could reach a deal with him. Tell him his great qualities when he is sober and as a compromise reach a deal with him that you will help him quit drinking on condition of beating these charges. If the system is hypocritical and was set up solely for punishment of poor people and not for rehabilitating them, you got a great chance to help him.
