You guys are missing out. Ayuuto/hagbad is good for people who can't save money. I am going to start 500 dollars a month for 10 people insha'Allah.

pointless. That means, when it is not your turn to get the money-- u will be paying large sum of money monthly! Who needs more billS?? why don't u save every month if u can afford to pay every month?

Well, that is the case if that is the sole purpose of Ayuuto, but it isn't. It has many benefits.

1. Treating savings as an expense.
2. Access to large capital before you are able to save the total amount (excluding the last person)
3. Checks and balances, through the group
4. Easier to do things as a group

If saving is the objective than being the last person is the best option.

Screw ayuuto. A number of different Somali groups in my city tried to have me in hagbad and I never liked the idea of it as I am good at saving. I hardly buy unnecessary stuff and apart from the utilities/bills and the money I send back home every month, everything else goes to my savings account. At one point I managed to save almost $90K net in four and half years. But then Africa and its never ending gaajo showed up and my savings took a hit. Now I am back upwards on the saving steps again.

Lilly aka Luscious was the first ever person I spoke to on an online forum

It's kinda nice if your doing a small ayuuto, throw half a rack a month for 6 months and get a nice lump sum in the end.

Im good with saving money but alot of people who are spenders benefit from it tremendously.
