I have no problem with 98% of us being Muslims. I just dont want religion in parliament and public discourse and int he public sphere.

Yes, I am classic godless atheist metropolitan leftie
Well if you have no problem with 98% of Somalis being Muslims you need to accept that conservatism is partially part of Islam. You can dream of your ideal society and government, but it is good to be realistic otherwise you will only tire yourself to exhaustion.

Why would you enforce people to lose their religious background? Isn't that itself a breach to freedom of expression that you trying to promote?

Don't you think its little bit foolish and arrogant on your part to dismiss 98% of people's religion.? And that arrogance just dismantled your 'ideal Somali'.

I do not get Somsli atheist who think Religious people should dance to their minority tune.

Golaha Guurtida in Somaliland is not compatible with modern politics. Maybe back in medieval Somalia. Like I previously said, Somalia should adopt the Iranian type of power structure, it balances modern politics, culture and faith in a compatible manner.

I believe that Islam is a complete comprehensive system and can play crucial role in society.

Even when you say separation of religion and the state there can never be a complete separation in a Muslim country. Never.

What about dhaqankeena where does it fit in your dream-nation?
What about dhaqankeena? Dhaqan evolve as time goes on. Cultures evolve and change over time, and it is what it is.
What roll do you see elders playing in your ideal somalia?

who gives a fuck about them? are you talking about the clan elders? smh in his ideal world qabilism doesnt exist. so the elders would be irrelevant.

I do not believe that statement.

Modern politics in Somalia also involves different qabiil sharing power and the Elders are a necessity so stop downplaying the crucial role they play in our society.

You must have poor knowledge on Somalia. Qabil was used in the politics of Somalia because Somalis are still stuck in the backward ways. Who in this day and age appoints parliament, cabinet and other government roles under clan allocation? Nothing modern about this system and neither is it compatible with modern politics, if it was Somalia would had been a stable country the moment 4.5 system was introduced and same goes for Somaliland. Somaliland is backward because of this qabil system, if they adopted a better system they would had achieved lots of things for the 20 years peace they had.

Lol did this fool just say guurtida is not compatible with the modern world? The irony is that the Guurti is the backbone of SL's political stability and functions much the same way as the iranian supreme council or the Roman Senate does -appointed officials who guide the country behind the scenes. Without them there would be chaos and animal savagery just like in the south.

Guurti=Council is compatible with modern politics.

However it depends what kind of Guurti it is. If it is a guurti based on qabil then it will not be compatible with modern politics. Don't get me wrong Guurti based on clan elders does has it's use in a society like Somalis, however it will not bring progress but only short-term stability. What use is in illiterate old men in a council for a progressive future?

There has to be strict requirements to appoint a council/shura. They have to be well educated and represent a common value i.e. religious values in the case of Iran.

I don't like this idea of modernism equals discarding everything we hold dear which also served us well.

Whether you like it or not even in the west where we live under different system it doesnt stop us from carrying on with the way we use to do things.

Whats also lost on you is the simple fact that dgaqanka somaali wuxu shabahaa diinteena in a lots of ways.

Stop diminishing the importance of our elders and their invaluable wisdom.

Obviously mentioning Guurtida means to you electing politicians on clan bases. Which says alot about you

Odeyaasha are too traditionalists. Just give them a retirement package and thank them for their services to Somalia in difficult times.

how about we exchange that retirement package for odayaasha to a package of dismissal and a total lack of Indifference to all the things you propagating. ..faggot rights; separation of religion and state; but most importantly atheist opinion on how a nation of (according to you are 98% muslims) should run their affairs?
