I noticed that people of Asian and African descent tend to have flat feet.

I have the most common type of foot, which is normal(medium) arch. I can wear just about any type of shoe. 8-)

One characteristic of a foot with an extra high arch is that there is an arch on both the inside and outside of the foot. People with this type of foot can slide a strip of paper under one side of their arch and out the other with out the paper ever touching the bottoms of their feet. This is because their arch is so high that the center of the foot never touches the ground.

Apparently this is normal, so you don't have to have half your foot touching the ground for it to be medium
