I think they are innocent and have been kidnapped from the streets.

The real killers are from large clans with ultimate protection. The killer of the Doctors without Borders volunteers is walking free today and he's from a large clan. He killed 3 people I believe

I am,

It is an undeniable fact that the death penalty deters future would-be criminals.

Even in the United States, the crime rates have dropped dramatically since 1992, when the Police and Courts started to institute harsher penalties for various crimes. The prison population has increased, as well as the people on death row, but the streets of America are much safer.

America is now having a murder rate of about 4.8 per 100,000 people, which is MUCH MUCH LOWER than it once was.

I was referring to having a military institution that governs the activity of the military and national security. Keep in mind what happens between a government and opposition is a separate issue, and no question there were and will be mistakes in any judiciary - if it is unchecked. The moral of my comment was the military institutions are reappearing and Somali state is gradually returning. Keep in mind the current military court was started from zero. Of course there are lessons from previous tragedies, and there are many of them that occurred on all sides.

At the end of the day, if Somali military continuous in the current pace and state institutions come back, the involvement of foreign military and terrorist groups is in Somali affairs will be kept to a minimum sometime in the future. There is a reason why Ethiopia is interfering in Somali affairs but can't bother doing the same to Eritrea. Both of these countries are repressive regimes and commit huge human rights abuses, but because Eritrea maintains huge military- - with strong military institutions - Ethiopia could not do jack to them. Similarly, Somalia rebuilding its state institutions and forming a robust military, with judiciary, is a step in the right direction.
Ok, that makes it more clear.

Gegiroor,

Cut the crap. You're trying to justify the unjustifiable.

Although I'm not a fan of capital punishment, its needed in Somalia, we are dealing with animals here, most of them don't even care if they live or die, they think they are going to heaven, rehabilitation is not gonna work.

No mercy for Alshabab members that are found guilty.
Your point doesn't make much sense. If they don't fear death and think they are going to heaven what's the point of giving terrorists the death sentence outside of just pure vengeance? These people are desperate outcasts and people suffering from mental trauma and extreme poverty. They would be better served rehabilitated and re-educated. It is not fair for people to judge them from the comforts of their homes in the west. Those fleeing the opportunities and comforts of the west to fight for isis deserve your hate more.
It's not fair to judge them? they are killers, cold blooded assasassins who kill indiscriminately.

Rehabilitation only works when you are dealing with petty criminals who commit crime for profit, these dudes are radicals, they believe in a violent ideology, it would be foolish to think that you can talk them out of it, they should be shot, every single one of them. They are killing the creme of our society, students, intellectuals, religious scholars, doctors, media figures etc

Iyaga iyo Isis waa isma dhaanto iyo dhashed, they are two sides of the same coin.
