About the age thing, I've noticed alot of young people joining this place more and more. Kids nowadays have iPhones, Samsung, and iPads. I wouldn't even be surprised if 15 or 16yr olds are here.

Some fields DO require degrees. Mainly engineering, medicine, tech, computer science and law.

I couldn't do my job without the coding skills I learned in uni.

It is most of the social sciences that are dubious and not really needed in the business world.

You're correct in saying a degree in technology, software engineering and computer science will take you far but most degrees are useless if they're not hard science or maths. I have friends and people that work in fortune 500 companies, unless u know someone from the inside, it's hard to get a job. Most of My nyggas do not have degrees but make 30Gs more than others with degrees. Companies are more interested in experience and not necessarily book smarts.

I can vouch what Advo wrote above. I know this Caucasian dude, after Uni, he went to one of the Ashrams in India and lived a simple life with Hari Krishnas, when he matured, he shed the hippie lifestyle and was parachuted into a job as an investment banker because his family were privileged. He is a social sciences graduate and earns triple the wages of the mathameticians who work for his firm as bonuses. One major factor that assists college students to land a proper and well paying job is how well they have established contacts or a network of different students from different backgrounds. Join the different clubs at the university.
