You guys we could get the best deal and we could still end up being fucked up. The truth is we don't have the institutions and laws in place to take advantage of these resources without it disappearing magically. I'd rather have 10% of revenue with Norway's use of it than 100% revenue with Nigeria's use of it.
Poor countries with natural resources = resource curse.

While Somalis are too busy finding ways to screw each other over you have a bunch of Tories working together to screw all of us. Well done Somalis
Look at this labalaba. I'm used to seeing this on the board of any FTSE company lakin on something with the word Somali in it. Makes me want to gag

The smug looks on their faces

Lool weren't you the Tory cheerleader.
But wallahi this shit hurts your soul, Somalis and specially us Somalians can not go lower.
Dam jadiid were the worst thing that happened to Somalia sonce the Ethiopian invasion. They gave away our waters, put our southern waters in dispute with the Kenyans, then they started signing deals with scumbags from everywhere.
And the guys that are clapping for this deal, SOMALI WATERS HAS SHRANK FROM 200NM TO 18NM since we started making deals with the Norwegians, now the rest of it is taken by Kenyans.

Typical! When you have self centric elite and clan championing willing to one up eachother to get ahead! Foreign companies will come in exploit them!
Politicians know what they are doing they are just greedy!
Hold up I will countdown to us becoming the next Nigeria! Poor as fuck with unlimited oil!
Sigh..:

Tory leadership in the UK benefits me. That does not mean I want them anywhere near Somalia's resources

As far as I am aware it is the current PM, Sharmarke who is accused of signing away the waters and he didn't. What he signed was the mediation agreement and going to court over Kenya's claim
This is another problem we have. The only people to stand behind their politicians are Puntland, the rest of the country run around opposing everyone. Even Puntland opposes everything that is not Puntland
A fragmented people with no common vision or aim. It's a wonder Somalia hasn't lost more than fish so far

The simple truth is, 99% of Somalis don't know what the gov is doing, and the gov itself probably doesn't know what its doing or signing.
Also don't wanna get into this cuz we had this argument before, our waters have been sold, now on 13th July the dispute will be in Kenya's favour. Mark my words.

I don't know about 99% but I think a lot of people would rather fadhi kudirir than take the time to understand what's going on, that requires a bit more effort
In terms of signing, everything has to go through the MPs right? It seems unrealistic to expect people who haven't had full-time jobs, some who haven't even had a proper education to approve and vote on issues, debate on them or even have the work ethic to get things done
A lot needs to change. Like I've said before, I don't envy those who are trying to drive that change

Black v;
the Somali regime has enough educated mps to deal with these types of issues.lack of education is not the issue.the problem is most Somali guys can be bought for the "right" price regardless of their education level.

Re: Somalia may pay 90% of oil revenue to explorer under draft deal
Most human beings can be bought for the right price and corruption can be found in the politics of each and every country. That's why they tend to have so many checks in place, remember the expenses scandal?
Lakin do you honestly believe that the MPs in Somalia are sufficiently educated? Most of them are there because of qabiil, there is no merit. What they're being asked to do is create a system whereby MPs are voted in and thereby get themselves out of a job, where's the incentive?
It's been a long time since I've paid attention but I would wager that there is still not a single motion that is ever passed or even rejected in a timely fashion. Everything drags, not all of them, but as a group waa the most inefficient group of people I have ever seen

You can't just assume that. There are plenty of terrible decisions by the FGS you can scrutinize, but you can't go on as if they've already accepted this proposal when they CLEARLY haven't.FAH1223 wrote: Yes, it is a draft proposal
