I think once this news gets out into the Somali Diaspora and media all hell will break loose. No Somali mother should ever be going to hell that is Saudi Arabia. This is a nation which has 20,000$ private tent's fully furnished and services at the Hajj for the wealthy when Hajj is suppose to be about being modest and equality for all.
 I would rather die than work under the tutelage of an Arab. Rather DIE. :D I drive by a local GaS station in my neighborhood and put GAS, the owner of the GAS station is an a European style dressed Arab, working for him are a bunch of Somali men exchanging the shift. I never speak to them. Sometimes they come outside and ask if I am Somali. I never answer, I just smile with embarrassment. The Arab sometimes comes out and speak in Arabic to me, but I smile and get into my car. It is really disgusting being reduced to that humiliation walaahi. I cannot stand Arabs--therefore It would have killed me going to work every day, but I am sure these Somali men are happy and grateful to work for this Arab thing. I guess --one persons trash is another persons treasure! Power to u. :eat:

What I don't understand is the Saudi authorities are not allowing Syrian refugees to settle in their countries. Therefore, what is the point of requesting Somali maids in Saudi Arabia? I am doubting this story. Could it be that Saudis want Somali fighters who are recruited to fight the Houthis in Yemen?

Again let us not forget that Syrians are fellow Arabs who speak Arabic language as their mother tongue while Somali maids don't speak the language. Besides, Saudi Arabia has recently launched a campaign to expel all foreign expatriates to their countries of origin. As part of this crackdown, roughly 12,000 Somalis were deported from Saudi Arabia. Now let us put things in perspective: If the Saudi authorities don't allow Syrian Sunni refugees to settle in their country, if they have been recently expelling many of the foreign expatriates in Saudi Arabia in order to ensure Saudi youth get those jobs, what is the need for new Somali maids? I would advise Somalis to take this story with a grain of salt. I am not doubting the OP but the authenticity of the story needs to be checked with Somali leaders.

gegiroor, because those maid jobs none of their own do it and many countries such indonisia, india, bangaladish made for them hard to get cause of the way their treat their citizens.

so, somali maids, make sense, since they do not have strong government to speak for them. easy to abuse them, deport them etc.

Somalis were not allowed to work as maids in the Gulf countries because of our membership in the Arab Union.

First it was sending our men & boys to fight in Saudi Arabia's stupid war on Yemen, now it's our women & girls. Efff these bila dhiigs calooshood ushaqeeyste politicians!!

Why do Khaleeji people rely so much on maids & chauffeurs? their insatiable appetite for servants is a major part of the problem. Life is so much easier, there's washing machines, dishwashers, hoovers meeshu Somalia maaha, there's no back breaking work? If only they were not obsessed with keeping up with the joneses(getting huge houses) they would be no need for servants. Heck even if they live in apartments they have maids. If they go for a desert trip or foreign holiday they drag their maids along. I've even heard of Khaleeji guys living in apartments, having cooks and because there's no space inside the apartment(or they don't want them there) they let them live outside in appaling conditions. Waa ummad wada useless ah, here in the U.K you will see lots of them in London but it's the maids that are pushing the prams and holding the childrens hands while mommy is busy eyeing up the £4000 hand bag. They think housework, cooking and mothering is beneath them.

Hyper, but the questions that I have is Syria is 80% Sunni, and the overwhelming majority of the people who are fleeing from the conflict are Sunni. Since King Salman is now championing a Sunni unity due to their rivalry with Iran, why can't they allow the Syrian Arab women who are overwhelmingly Sunni as maids? I think we need more facts about this story!

thanks to Sadaam Hussain, he helped to kick them out.

they want just maids not the whole family to sattle in their country.

cherine,

now we have 11 bedrooms and 12 washrooms, 6 living rooms and 4 dinning rooms. i know its hard to not have maids man. we have 4 now and they do not clean enough. we all help and not even enough to keep it spotless.

Hyper it's not hard. You just need to downsize, why do you even need all those rooms is beyond me? 4 dining rooms? 12 toilets? now that is absolute madness. I've long suspected that the sheer size of homes in the gulf neccessitates having maids but then again these people also have maids when they live in flats. Explain that bal.

Btw i don't know if you've heard but Kuwait is running out of space to house all its people, they're trying to convince Kuwaitis to build much more modest sized homes but to no avail. They all want palaces.
