I think we should avoid the straw man approach.

Just take few minutes and reflect ; Will Somaliweyn die if we have 5 independent somali inhabited states? Why should Somalia (Muqdisho and other places) have a monopoly on the def and content/discourse on Somaliweyn?

The southern leaders are calooshood u shaqeeystayaal; why should they represent somaliweyn? Why don't you look at the mom in Hargeisa? Mandera? Xamar?

Somaliweyn is not a social construction. It is not represented by politicians.

Let us assume for the sake of argument that SOmaliland becomes an independent country? will that kill Somaliweyn? NOT in my opinion. SOmaliweyn is not about politics; it is about bonds; it is about aspiration. It is the spirit of a people with the same culture and language.

I think we are giving credits to political entrepreneurs, dictators and the nasty amongst us if we give them the right to determine/define Somaliweyn.

The reality on the ground is most different from the one they perceive on Snet. I should know from my stay in Xamar.

VG :I don't follow Somali politics. But, I am tired of people claiming - on these boards- that our hopes, aspirations and dreams are determined by a few politicians who have sold out our people. Who gives the political leaders to determine our social bonds? and more importantly, why should Somalia/konfuria detemine Somaliweyn?
