It is flexible pavement apparently, 3-5 inches thick. I am guessing they did the drainage work first.
Don't hate man, construction on Garowe will start next week, and A/Y international in 2017 inshallah.
OSHACA??

Shepherd - Oshaco was built using our money. The Galkacyo airport is property of the state. Garowe's was built by Conoco. Bosaaso built by the state. What airport have the Mjs built using their own funding?

I should've known an envious hutu will derail a positive somali success story, your inferiority complex is displayed here clearly. Tell me what you've built in xamar apart from destroying it.
Bosaso airport runway is massive better and bigger than xamar turkish owned airport which it will own for 100 years no income to you. Get outa here with your delusional bullshit.
We tried to build you a road and you wanted to destroy the progress, you lot can't even talk the whole somali nation is laughing at doqonimdina.

The Berbera airport has a 4,140 m (13,582 ft) runway, one of the longest not just in the horn but on the African continent.

2.5km is very small. Only Jubba-Daallo and smaller Somali livestock planes can land there.
Berbera 4.16km (Ethiopian)
Hargeisa 3.7km (FlyDubai, Ethiopian)
Mogadishu 3.6km (Turkish Airlines)
Bosasso 2.5km (Jubba airways since they got kicked out from the rest of Somali airports by bigger and modern planes).
Addis Ababa's Bole has two runways:
3.8km
3.7km
I wish MJ people put the same effort into education as their faan.

Bosaso airport has the longest runaway in the Horn of Adrica. Eydoor kids stop hating. The another thing that gives more weight to Bosaso airport is it is built with PL leaders' sweat and effort while the airports in Berbera and Mogadishu were built by the former Somali government. Clear difference.

Bosasso airport is being upgraded by A Chinese firm with Italian funding.
A Chinese company has began building an airport in Bossaso town, the commercial capital of Puntland, a semi-autonomous state in northern Somalia.
Puntland President Abdiwweli Mohamed Ali Wednesday launched the project to be undertaken by China Civil Engineering and Construction Company (CCECC).
President Ali stated that the project was being funded by Italy at a cost of $10 million.
The occasion in Bossaso town, 1,500 km northeast of Mogadishu, and facing the Gulf of Aden, was attended by UN and Italian officials.
President Ali stated that upon completion, the Bossaso airport would serve the whole of Somalia, adding that CCECC would complete the construction in 10 months.
The President underlined that CCECC had a good experience and expertise in carrying out civil works in Africa.
“Puntland chose CCECC for the job of constructing the Bossaso airport because it realised such ambitious projects as the Tanzania-Zambia railway line,” said President Ali.
In another development, Malta has announced its intentions to establish diplomatic relations with Somalia.
Malta Foreign minister George Vella and Somali diplomat Ali Said Faqi, signed an agreement on the fringes of an EU-Arab League conference in Athens, Greece, on Wednesday
.
In common sense, how can a region with a total budget of 60 million upgrade an airport with 10 million dollars?
That's like 18% of their whole budget on a 2.5 km runaway.
