Why have we become a nation that denies facts? Why are we not debating the root causes/ and how to do something?
I was not denying the facts. I was merely pointing out that there statistics have to be interpreted - they shouldn't be taken at face value. For example, the "working age population" statistic includes students between the ages of 16-21 and mothers who are caring for their children. Both these groups are over represented in the Somali British population, and the Somali "employment" rate is therefore lower than it would have been if the age & gender profile of the Somali British population were different. Another example is that Somalis do live in social housing, but this is mainly because they see mortgages as 'haram' (forbidden) , not because they can't get any other type of housing.
Do you not think that we should look behind the headlines and stats to understand what the substance of the matters are?
