How did Somalis embrace the gang culture so easily?

Gang culture is promoted by rap music. Many Somali kids love rap music just like black kids. Parents think it is harmless, so they ignore it. However, rap music teaches you about gang life, crime, and black activism. It would be fine if they listened to it once in awhile. But the problem is that not only do they listen to it every single day, believe in it, then they also memorize it. It is like the kids who get radicalized online by ISIS. Next thing you see the Somali kid and Black kid becomes a gangster. It is ironic that white people made so much money from selling rap music.

Not true. Somalis in khaliij were well-respected in the 80's and 90's. The recent influx of uneducated refugees messed the game up for us.

I completely agree. Another thing is Somali families are always eager to move into free housing even if they been in the country for longer than 5-10 years. It's in those communities where gang culture tends to cultivate from. I know it's a little different in Europe with the segregation and what not so you could give them a pass, but Somali families in North America have no excuse. Once you get money you should move to better communities, that's what everybody else does.

It’s called growing pains.
