Well the reason they get drunk and out of control is the GUILT behind drinking. The average skinny hides their drinking habit and so on the occasions he/she gets a chance to drink, they do so very heavily.

I however have seen long term drinkers who held their booze very well. They were in control and well behaved. Why? Because they never hid their drinking from anyone. They felt no "shame" in their drinking.

I just wish people would stop drunk calling me. :'( . You can't trust someone who drinks heavily . They say one thing when they are sober and another when they are drunk. Plus they don't remember anything which makes me wonder why they do things in the first place.

It is the poor that drink to get drunk!!! There are somalis who drink reasonably. Most somalis and other poor people will go for cheap booze with the aim of getting drunk. I have been to events where people from poor backgrounds drink a lot of glasses of apéritifs and digestifs and are drunk before the dinner starts and the wine is served. Somalis that I have met drink liquor instead of wine/beers. In Italy, it is different. SOmalis who drink in this country do it moderately. It is mainly wine for dinner and a cinzano/campari. If you drink cheap vodka/whiskey/brandy or even local liquor (which I guess the guy in the story has consumed) your will be drunk. Most of our people suffer from liver diseases and this makes their livers weak and a drop of alcohol will trigger a reaction.

We Somali men can rightfully be accused in not doing some things moderately, but when it comes to alcohol, both genders are represented in drinking excessevly and becoming violent. There are many YouTube videos or media articles of drunk and angry Somali women behaving badly, some even fighting with strangers, or being reported their sentences by a court for committing a violent act. Thanks Ina Adeer, will harm minimisation help these folks not to be imprisoned, or lower the number of abuses and assault to their victims? The drinkers are younger, angrier and feel undistructable. They hire cheap hotel rooms as a group when they binge on alcohol.
