In my honest opinion, there is nothing to gained from the establishment of another military front.

Partaking in the voter registration and one man one vote elections requires reliable peace and stability, widespread local support, political stability, functional regional administrations, inclusion and fair representation with the multi-party system and the mobilization of elected officials with influence to assist the relevant gov't institutions such as the national electoral commission.

None of the pre-requisite conditions for universal suffrage have been realized in Eastern Sanaag. This only hurts Warsangeli who will continue to be politically by the is-xambaar representatives; true elected leaders/representatives and rallying support behinds a political would make them politically relevant in SL and the lead to establishment of functional local admins.

Registration is taking place in only two of the twelve planned registration locations, Yube and Hadaaftimo.

Nobody wins in this situation, except for Puntland and clans vying for the limited seat in the Sanaag region; apparently they don't want Warsangeli to successfully take advantage of the political processes, and chose true representatives with influence (needed to solve the Harti dilemna in SL). At the end of the day an elected official will be held accountable by his constituency, a nominated (isxambaar) will only seek to please the political party that chose him

At the end of the day imo this is the worst case scenario for SL after squandering the already minimal support of local elders who strongly opposed the deployment of military to Dhahar; and Warsangeli who will be further divided by the continued conflict....

To start with the Dhabayaco will never allow one of their sons to die on the frontline for Dhulous or Warsangali cause. That is just given.

The other thing is that Dhabayaco are broke and have no the money to finance Dhulous or Warsangali melitia against Somaliland.

Dhabayaco understand that Somaliland will not cross into Nugaal or Barri and because of that are not too worried about Somaliland as a threat to their enclave.

Besides, Somaliland and Dhabayaco have a hotline and gentleman's agreement in dealing with Dhulous and Warsangali folks. The Dhulous have realized this after so many years but a lot of Warsangalis are still oblivious to it.
