because that is their degaans and they are free to express their concerns and opinion, it happened in Somaliland and it happens in every place of the world when the locals are affected by the projects that might change the demography and socio-economic aspect of their lives then the wise thing to do is involve them in every step of the project and eleminate any misunderstanding ,but for sure we all know this corrupted government has the worst and the least public relations with the citizens, it happened in awdal in the suudi mountains with the chinese company, it happened in oodweyen and xudun where locals fired at the oil company stuff forcing them to flee the country, it happened in cidaagle degaans the qoolcadey grazing lands where ,if not mistaken, 2 persons died...etc....even during the construction of egaal airport, the locals their were protesting day and night untill they been compensated with new lands and cash money ,last time I heard about them they still not satisfied becuz the government didnt build them roads that connects their new lands to the main roads .

on a side note, why u guys tend to single out ciise muuse from the zubariya mainstream, ciise muse are the founders of zubariyah,and they are zubair awal tribe, but ironically when u ppl speak about ur clans u tend to enlarge urselves and say HJ or GX in general and every farax and abdi in those sub clans even if living in a remote degaag still will talk about his clansmen's land like its his/her degaan....so start practising what u preaching first guys and focus on ur own degaans or discuss this issue without qabyalaad or instigating qabyalad toward a particular clan.

Berbera is a shared city and the port does not belong to any one tribe. It was not built or developed by any poor clan. It is a national asset and does not concern any tribe.

Ben....horta, I don't represent or speak on behalf any clan here, but since some deranged inter isaaq qabiliist have had a field day against CM since this deal came to be materialize and tries to falsely taint them as anti-development factors in SL, I had to sort out things.

there are tens of videos where the bulk of CM explained their concerns to the public and at the same time showed their acceptance for any REAL development that is meant for the nation not for a particular group of interest revolving around the madaxtooyada.

Berbera people want transparency and the full detailed agreement deal to be discussed, this government is valid till march 2017 that is almost 7 months from now but this deal is 30 years commitment and berbera are the main concerned party here not BURCO or CAYNABA , so the least this government can do is to make a public campaign to eliminate any misunderstanding instead of capturing suldans and threatening to use force against the locals who oppose this deal.

Man I was really on the government's side on this one, I want the deal to be good and to lead to tangible redevelopment of the Berbera, but their performance at the parliamentary presentation was abysmal. Particularly cringeworthy was their attempt at passing off a summery of the agreement as the real thing. An appropriate response would be for the parliament to reject the agreement until such time the full text of it with all the clauses is presented.

I worked for DP world for almost briefly when they take over mina zayed in abu dhabi, those ppl are not easy with the money, they even laid off hundred of mina zayed employees to cut their loses, so imagine if they would manage us for 30 years..!!, sure we need more time to study the REAL agreement once the parliament have it all.

Though he does have a point CaynabaX, why don't the government disclose the full agreement and conditions?
I know for sure if the gov tried to explore oil in Sarrar without consulting with locals they will resist and chase out workers.

Somalis are the most backward people in the planet. We have Minister, xildibaano, mayors, council workers, gudoomiye...etc. Every single city, town, degmo to the most remote village has someone to represent them. These people were not hand picked from the government like they do in Xamar, but they were elected by the public. So if someone has a problem or if there is something they are not happy about we need to do what the rest of the world does. And that is to go through the steps of the system. Go to your council workers or your local MP that you voted for, and let them speak on behave of your district.

I don't see why these aqils and salaadin have to speak for people. Most of these salaadiin are uneducated, illiterate chew heads. What do they know about politics or economics?
Let the experts deal with it. I don't see anyone from the local government of Berbera complaining, I don't see the mayor complaining, I don't see any local MPs from Berbera or Saxil complaining.
There needs to be law and order put in place.
