Even shia's didn't consider them Muslim until the reign of the first Assad when he went to Lebanon and Iran and lobbied shia clerics to consider them shia so they could claim to be Muslim and assume power. The Iranians and Lebanese did so in order to gain political clout in Syria.
Doesn't claiming Alawis aren't Muslim make you Takfiri?

this depends on your thinking and behavior , if you believe all non muslims even those not ahlu kitab to be kufaar ,
rejected , subdued and killed then you are a takfiri.
Knowing that they are not muslim but approaching them as fellow human being in brotherhood and respect is a better way.
This is how islam was spread all over the world in india, indonesia and parts of africa.
You have the example of mohideen chisti of the chisti sufi order that befriended hindus, debated religion with hindu priests and msytics and in his lifetime converted dozens of people to islam, his followers are responsible for millions entering islam.

isnt that a better way ?

No, Alawi creed is clearly kufr and not in the fold of Islam. If I claim to be Muslim but then say Jesus is the son of God calling me a kafir doesn't make you a takfiri. It's clear as day that by claiming Jesus is the son of God takes me out of the fold of Islam. Alawi beliefs are the same.

Terrible choice why not praise Gamal Abdelnasser(AUN) the greatest Arab leader in the last century.
