I am fluent in arabic and its not easy to read or self explanatory, you will only get the gist of it.
I still have to use arabic translation of the quran for deeper understanding.
English translation has very little use...

Every verse has a context , a time and place and event associated with it, and usually one or more hadiths.

you cannot pick any verse you want from the english translation and expect to understand anything.

So what if you're fluent? Doesnt matter. This isnt the 6th century, the quran has been translated by scholars and better learned men than you over time. A lot Somalis are fluent, doesnt mean they have some secret access to a different interpretation than the rest of us.

There is a methodology to studying and interpreting the quran, fluency in arabic alone is not enough. Tafsir is a whole science and require intensive study.
The quran cannot be translated , and you cannot make a ruling or judgement by reading a few ayat here and there.

The quran is the direct word of the creator, a translation is what some human thinks is the best approximation of the meaning .

So no tricks here, if you want to attack the quran go ahead, it the lawx almaxfud and immune to all attempts by man.

I would suggest use of the hadith, this is also human hands and there is allot of room for mischief there,

It's about far worse than hatred, he's inciting violence against the non believers. Here's the full verse.

3:55 when God said, “O Jesus, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify you from those who disbelieve and make those who follow you [in submission to God alone] superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you concerning that in which you used to differ.
3:56 And as for those who disbelieved, I will punish them with a severe punishment in this world and the Hereafter, and they will have no helpers.”
3:57 But as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, He will give them in full their rewards, and God does not like the wrongdoers.

Saar, true these are frightening ayats! I wont try to justify them, as my good friend Gurey did, by contextualizing or hinting translation problems.
But I still dont consider as the Subxaana Wa tacaalaa hating non muslims. I consider it as a harsh measure against sinners. as I said we can talk about whether these punishments are proportional to the sins committed.

As for myself I am a muslim, who doesnot like to go to Janna (I find its boring and only white ladies are found there ...I like Afran Qalloo girls),
and who is not afraid of hell (if the subxaana wa tacaalaa throws me in hell I will still love him).
