That makes sense since Sitti, Jigjiga and Djibouti are all by and large on a northeasterly direction. Hafad Issa is a bit south of the airport.

Not entirely accurate as Laga Harre is inhabited by Gurguras, Str8 is adding Gurgura to the Oromo numbers. The Nole and other Afran Qallo inhabit the Gurgura neighbourhood because they intermarry.

Don't be fooled Cuz.
Not including Gurguras. I don’t include them when I speak of the Oromos. When I include the southern area, I include them because the Kombulcha wordea borders dire to the south. This is the Noole homeland. All Noole sub clans are found in this area.

Gurguras are all over the city, but most live towards malka jabdu town.
Laga Harre is also a neighbourhood traditionally settled by the Gurgura. Nonetheless, in Laga Hare, they and their Maternal Afran Qallo clan are relatively indistinguishable.

We both know that the Gurgura also live in Kombolcha Woreda. It is those that live in Kombolcha Woreda and other Woredas of East Hararghe that are indistinguishable from the Afran Qallo. The border between Gurgura and Afran Qallo is not at Dire Dawa; it is further South and East in East Hararghe Zone where the two clans live side by side. For example:

However, they have never lost their Somali ethnic identity and Abtirsi, and were never fully assimilated into the Boran. The following Quranyow Garre Odey Abtirsin to Dir demonstrates this.

There was never really big problems with the Noole and Issa, they both went on their own ways.

You do know there are plenty of mixed Noole and Issas in DD right? Your making it seem like they are completely segregated from one another and hate each other. It not like that. New comers may have that mentality, but people have always been cool with each other.

The man below is an example of Issa and Noole mix, and a distant relative of mine.

It is not even up for debate that the Babbile Afran Qallo are predominately Hawiye; Gugundhabe and Karanle. The Geri, like the Gurgura, have traditionally avoided being fully assimilated into the Afran Qallo. Nonetheless, there are numerous Daroods and Dirs in Dagaa and Ala (presumably) branches of Afran Qallo. When you bear in mind that East Hararghe has a population of roughly four million, it is amazing to think that at least a million of those are of Somali origin. Similar to the Dirs, Darood, Gaaljecel, Hubeer, Dabarre etc. in Digil iyo Mirifle; the Afran Qallos you meet will identify as Oromos, but will tell you what their Qabil origins are when questioned. We should differentiate them from other Oromos and not be belligerent to anyone who claims to be Oromo as some are our Qabil brothers.

Then why was it not historically called Noole, Issa and Gurgura Awraja?

The Ciise do not have a lot of marital ties with the Noole. Then again, even if they did, don't matter one bit as plenty of you are Somalis in disguise. When will you and Bareento share your Noole subclans and come out of the Oromo closet? We Somalis are Qabilists and are welcoming to our own. :myman:

I know many of your classical Afran Qallo artists are Somali, like the Gurgura Yonis Cabdullahi.

Is Qamar Yusuf also Gurgura?

I leave you with the Gurgura Fouad Giricho's dedication to his Gurgura Hometown.

You think the Amhara would include the Noole name? The subclan in that are are Noole warra Oromo. How would Awraja Gurgura, Issa and Noole Oromo sound, when the name Oromo was banned?

Claim the city all you like this is fine. It’s not a matter of fighting for, most the people are mixed, you like it or not. It’s best that it is its own chartered city.

Trust me, there are plenty Noole, Issa mix families. Not as many as the mix with Gurgura, but he picture is there.

Yonis Abdullahi is not Gurgura. His Dad is Gadabursi, his mom is Noole.

I just found out that a sub sub clan of Noole are Yabarre; not surprising considering how they, the Jidwaaq, Barsuug, Harar Hawiye, Akisho and Geri are not as prominent as they were in the distant past. Many have become Afran Qallo by the looks of it.

The unique thing about Gurgura is that their 'Gurgura' identity remains whether they live in the Oromo Zone or the Somali Zone due to their Xeer system, relatively larger population and a tradition of having one Ugaas. Even the ones who identify as Oromo in Eastern Hararghe Zone are not part of the Afran Qallo but state that they are the Oromo Gurguras. When their famous Ugaas Buux died, both Oromo and Somali speaking Gurguras were represented at his funeral.

The assimilation of some Ogadens into Oromo was not a one way process. You also had Oromos assimilating into Ogaden clan during their late 19th century expansion beyond the middle course of the Shabelle River.
