Somalia’s sovereignty and international recognized borders are not up for discussion. Even if an entire clan decides to break away the other clans will not grant it .
SL has a lot of potential. Isolating themselves from the rest of Somalia's politics is not good for them they might even have had the opportunity to bribe Xamar officials in the anarchy of the 90s to write off secession papers for them.
Time was on their side, they had the resources and the allies to make it happen or they could’ve split themselves in two, one part to take over the SFG and the other part to control SL, they could’ve manipulated the legal system to make their pipe dream come true, Alxamdulilah that they are political novices and that they think with their heart instead of their brain.
Isaaqs had a head start on other Somali tribes, and they have used their head start to allow refugee to Ethiopian and Yemenis fleeing Yemen’s civil war, whilst banning their Somali kinsmen from other tribes who were traveling on the same ships to not dock.
That was the wake up call ordinary Somalis needed, to fix up and dismantle this project build on Somali hate
Growing up I saw more Isaaq than tolka. Isaaqs are nice folk waa dad fiican I won't lie. Beesha who live under them up in Waqooyi are OK. Reer Burco are nice folks. I can't say the same for our civilians in Kismayo.
But their politics is some F'd up sh!t and the craziest cuqdad ridden qabyaalad ridden politics I seen with Somalis. I don't understand how they call themselves "Somaliland" and want to be recognized as a different country from "Somalia"
