To be fair it's only a tiny minority of these clans whom are AS.......the point I've been making is successive govts have failed to make any headway against AS.

It's clear Amisom has no real intention of fighting AS much less defeating them. The Americans are content just to launch drones.

A new strategy of engagement and dialogue with AS must be implemented.

If the Americans can talk to the Taliban then the govt should be able to talj to AS. :)

Therefore the responsible course of action is to open a dialogue.

I've already laid out the beginnings of a political strategy to end the war in Somalia.

Farmaajo and whoever follows have the basis of a starting point for negotiations.

Qatar can act as a go between and guarantor of any provisional agreement.

The end of drone strikes by the US and a cessation of hostilities by AS, followed by a period of calm and confidence building on both sides.
I agree with your position OD, if the US can negotiate with the Taliban who killed countless American soldiers, why can't we persue peace with AS. They will not be defeated anytime soon and we must save Somali lives and end the civil war. Sometimes you have to know when to pick fights and its clear this government is not serious about battling terror. Either you go the Russian-Syria route or Afghanistan route, the current route is intangible and will cause a stalemate.

I think the next govt, a hag led admin in all probability, will pursue talks with AS. Not because they give a damn about civilian deaths.....but because the hag money men will demand it. The current status quo is bad for business and there is $billions to be made in a peaceful Somalia.

Sahal will give you chapter and verse on this group that group etc.....but the simple fact is money is the biggest motivator for Somali's......including AS.

I was going to post this yesterday. Is mind boggling how al kebaab have their hands deep in every bussines man in xamar and lower shabbelleh pockets in 2019 . Is a slap to the face to the mujahids that fought and died to free their lands from these western backed al kebaabis only to see these same monsters to get top positions within this government , ofcourse the blood sucking dooros will jump up and celebrate this news and some dooros will deny this even tho its well known high official al kebaab members are in this gov
hence fahad yasin and PM khyre
