The only similarity is they are both from the seed of a Marehan man.
Everybody in Mudug knows Abdiqasim's real father is Xaaji Xaashi Jaamac Geri (Marehan) who was the governor of Dhuusamareeb for the Italians.
Xaaji Xaashi Geri was also the father of Siad Barre's 2nd most powerful wife Dalaayad Xaaji Xaashi.
I used to hear this from Marehan all the time and didn't believe it until my older brother saw a picture of Xaaji Xaashi at Maslax's home in Toronto and said wallahi Cabdiqaasim is the spitting image of Xaaji Xaashi.
Xaaji Xaashi ( nuur ugaas), was near wardheere when a divorced wife of salaad boy(cayr) came to him and married xaaji xaashi, she gave birth cabdiqasim, the question started from there, was she already pregnant or did xaaji xaashi make her pregnant?
xaaji xaashi was nabadoonka nuur ugaas at that time which by defacto makes him the highest ranking bah darandoole chief, which makes him suldaanka siyaad barre, and barre hiiraale at that time have you ever wondered why cabdiqasim is so close to hiiraale and siyaad
salaad boy was killed by dalal ugaas (adali and and granpa)
the time cabdiqasim was born reer diini and cayr were in open conflict in dhusamareeb
Voltage, ciyaalkan iska daa, ask abdiwahab, he knows the story
President cabdiqasim, may allah bless him and give him long life
The funniest thing to me is the fake outrage from our two Abgaal and Xawaadle friends. They might as well be Isaaq on this matter. Maxay arrimahaan ka yaqaaniin?
Ku lahaa "Marehan rumour." These guys don't even know there was a "GAR" sit down about who Cabdiqaadim belonged to. My grandpa who was a young man told me he was there watching the proceedings from the sidelines. The guy who did the "gar" was Majeerteen/Cumar Maxmuud who was the head of the Capo Dubats in Mudug.
Xaaji Xaashi Jaamac was a VERY powerful man who would go on to become the preeminent tribal chief in Mudug, governor of Dhusamareb, and arose to national politics when Somali political organization started in the Trusteeship Administration. He was more powerful than many of these names you only hear about in 1960 but he died very suddenly before then.
Many of his offspring rose very high though two stand out in particular;
1. Dalaayad Xaaji Xaashi became Siad Barre's wife.
2. And Cabdiqaasim as transitional president
What's so "Marehan rumor" about this? Saddam's mother who told him that isn't even Marehan. She's a Puntlander.
Xaaji Xaashi Jaamac Geri in Italian newspapers;
1. In 1951, upon Italy coming back as UN Trusteeship Administrator, the first clan to hold audience with the Administrator was Marehan, from both Mudug and Gedo. Xaaji Xaashi Jaamac led the Marehan of Mudug
2. Upon the Administrator's travels in that same year Xaaji Xaashi welcomed him to Dhusamareeb
3. In 1953, the Italians making peace between reer Diini and Cayr with Xaaji Xaashi leading the Marehan. In a subsequent article following that peace it says the Italians got involved after reer Diini "devastated" the Cayr. Ironically, in this same article, it later says while the Italians were making this peace, they heard WHILE IN THE MEETING that frustrated Marehan who couldn't loot Cayr because of the peace looted the Xawaadle and took off with many camels near Beled-Weyne.
4. Xaaji Xaashi was one of the first batch of Consiglios (Administrative Deputies) along with Adan Cadde during the Somali national political organization during the Trusteeship.
5. Xaaji Xaashi Jaamac as the Somali spokesman in negotiations with the Trusteeship about the sort of advisory role Somalis wanted in their own affairs between the UN and Italy in 1952
The sudden death of Xaaji Xaashi Jaamac was a huge loss to Marehan personally because he was at the apex of national leadership in the early colonial Trusteeship and who knows what it signified for Somalis if he lived and took one of the top roles in the post-colonial state as he was destined?
Would the 1969 Coup even have happened if Xaaji Xaashi was alive and in a top role as Siad Barre's father in law?
Many people don't know but one of the most important reasons Siad Barre rose so high to become even Commander in Chief was because of the doors the name of his father in law opened even years after the man's death.
So guys, every single Marehan knows Cabdiqaasim was the longest serving minister in the Kacaan because his brother-in-law was president (Dalaayad's husband)
