Somalia's population is around 10-13 million....Somalia is the hardest country to take census because clans like to boost and inflate their numbers inorder to seem bigger than what they really are....And it also dosen't help that Somalis have a large nomadic population...

http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/fac ... os/so.html <----the last real census taking was in 1975 and even that is considered a joke because a lot of clans lied to seem much bigger to the other clans...

*please take into consideration 36% of all somali women are living in Kingston, Jamaica* Laughing Laughing

\"If Somalis are ten million at least five of them are Ogadeens. \"

Tell us more fool? Do you think Somali Galbeed is all Cagdheer? Laughing

You know nothing.

Somali Galbeed has two large cities - Dire Dawa and Jigjiga, both have a minority Cagdheer population.

In fact, Cagdheers are only found pockets in the center of the region, they are surrounded by other clans from every angle. If you go to the Somaliland border, it is predominently Isaaq territory. If you go to the Somalia border, it is populated by other Somali clans. If you go Southern parts of the Somali Galbeed, you will meet a lot of Hawiye clans. If you go the North Western it is predominantly DIR region.

If there was a census done in Somali Galbeed today, the Cagdheers would be happy if they make 30% of the total population.

1- Muqdisho the heart land of the Hawiye and Dir
2- Hargaysa 99% Isaaq
3- Burco 99% Isaaq
4- Kismaayo

how the hell is burco-buuryoweyne the third city in somalia Laughing Laughing Laughing

your telling me burco is bigger then baidabo or bosaasso Laughing

Inside somalia's borders its harder to tell who is the majority between hawiye and darood and could go either way but the fact that isaaq never ever had a president in somalia is very telling Laughing

Apallo,

These are the facts young pig, never mind president even during the unification and the struggle for independence there was not a single Daarood party, all the parties were:

1- SYL , first president Cabdilaahi Ciise, second one Adan Cade (Both Hawiye)

2- SNL, first president Ina Naxar , second Cigaal both Isaaq

3- SUF Micheal Mariama ( Isaaq)

4- Xisbi Digul Mirifle and its obvious

So tell me young pig, facts like that to show numbers, Adan Cade banging a Majeerteen chick Ina Muuse Mataan was what brought Daarood the first presidency after almost 20 years of been governed by Cabdilaahi Ciise and Aadan Cade,

Inside Somalia, it is no doubt the Hawiye are a slight majority. The Isaaqs are second majority, the Dooros make the third position by slight number more than the Digil/Mirifle.

You asked why there wasn\'t Isaaq president, it could be many reasons.

First you need to realise that Somalis went through 3 different phases. The first phase was the Democratic era of the 1960s. Isaaqs back then made their presense felt, although they were new to the Southern politics. But they made a good start by making alliances etc...

The second phase was the accidently raise of the illiterate dictator Afweyne. During this time, I don\'t think anyone was there to challenge his presidency other than topling him and ousting from the country. It took the Isaaqs a quite number years fighting him.

Then came the anarchy phase. During this phase, the Isaaqs took a different trajectory and never wanted to lead that failed god forsaken country of Somalia. But had they, they could easily become the president and lead that nation to presperiety and even tranfere the capital to Hargeisa. In fact, the likes of Abdiqasim kissed Egal\'s feet just to do that, they begged him to lead a new Somali Government. If Egal was a warlord, he would have not refused that golden chance, but instead the pressure from the Isaaqs inside made him to drop it. Because he he did become a president of Somalia, he would become a presona-non-grata from Hargeisa.

pre-1969-Majeerteen??? from 1960-1967 Aadan Cade was the president of Somalia, in the end on 1967 Cabdirashid Sharmaarke and Cigaal shared presidency and premiership repectively, and in less then a year and some month the military coup took place..

Little kid you can't giggle your way out of facts try harder and stop listening to your Ayeeyo Xaliima Shirwac and head to the library Very Happy
Even though we are the largest sub-clan group in somalia and else where. We are still treated as second class citizens.
DANGIRL, Who said Ogadens are treated as second class citizens in Somalia? That is not true and in many southern towns, the populations are overwhelmingly Ogaden. The Ethiopian war gave the wrong perception that Ogadenia is only inhabited by Ogadens when in fact all Somali tribes live in Ogadenia.

Don't be swayed negatively by some somali fools and their clanish mentality.

According to some articles I read and this same thread, Ogadens are like the Kurds. They are minority in many countries. The devil's Somalia division hit this poor tribe the worst you can imagine. They are minority in ethiopia, somalia and kenya.

One (free) advice for them: grab some major cities in Somalia like others.
