Dhaga: Well, that's not very healthy.
From the quoted web-page:
"Almost all members are born into and raised in the faith. Converts from outside of the Amish communities are rare. Some Amish groups have a very restricted gene pool and are experiencing several inherited disorders".
What I meant is that, if you want to become an amish, you have to convert into Christianity. Otherwise, you're not an amish and you're not accepted to live with them. They reject to mix themselves with other people. Of course, they respect other people's faith and way of life, but they don't want to be mixed with them. That's the reason there are some strange diseases because of the wedding among cousins and relatives.
First of all, no one said that i want to become an Amish, so convertion is not part of the discussion. Secondly, the Amish have religious tollerance towards other faiths, simply because of their faith and the fact that they were not shown tollerence themselves when they were living in Europe. Thirdly, in regards to mix, no one said that i wanted to mix with them, besically i'm talking about staying with them for a while, you know to see what it is like to live like them. Finally, the Amish have adopted many black childrent for the gene pool problem.

Are you telling me the practice of our beloved Prophet (SCW) was wrong and unhealthy.?
I can see the moral issue but not healthy? I donÂ’t know man. How do explain the whole Arab communities who practice inter marriage with family members in daily bases? They look healthy enough to me.

I guess not and I suppose that would mean that they never really were active in the slave trade/ownership stage back in the day.
