^ Dude I live right across the hockey hall of fame how the heck can you talk to me?
I was stating the fact that the most recent Two nhl champs the Canes and TBay have key canadian players. Cam Ward the best player on Carolina and the Conn smythe winner and Tbays best players in there 03-04 run.
Canadians are 53% of THE NHL. The greatest players of all Time are Canadian Gretzky, Lemieux, Howe and Dionne, Orr etc
The reigning MVP is joe thorton a Canadian. Jonathon Cheecho his linemate who scored like 56 goals last year is Canadian. This perception that Euro's are great skilled players is flawed. they are puss.ies and can't fight so they have to rely on Skating. Canadian players can skate and play physical.
The best defensman both play on the same line Neidermayer and Pronger Canadians.
Best goalies Brodeur, Ward etc are canadian
THE SINGLE BEST YOUNG PHENOM IS SIDNEY CROSBY Canadian. Fukk outta her with your finnish worshipping coc.k sukking self
Ahhh, numbers wise, yes. Euro's are DEF more skilled. But when you take the intangibles, i.e leadership, etc, North Americans dominate. Messier, Yzerman and Chelios were the best leaders of the past 3 decades. Whereas you look at a useless tit like Bure who regularly potted 30 or more goals, couldn't lead a gang of pre schoolers to the toilet.
Mickey and Ashlee~ (Probably the only time I will address you as such instead of Ashley) I agree with the fact that Gretz, Mess, Yezerman, Lemieux, etcÂ… are legends of the game but I did not know we were talking about retired playersÂ…. The Euros influx into North American Hockey is recent in the last 15 years has certainly contributed to the game positively. I also agree that Euros are pu55ies when it comes to fighting, but I am never fond of goon hockey anyway and love their (goons) extinction out of the NHL post the latest CBA.
I would also say that the North America Media is a bit biased when it comes to touting talents, we all remember the Eric Lindros fiasco, he was a big bust when guys like Peter Forsburg (Probably the best player in the world at some point in his prime) was not given much of credit.
Crosby is good, but I enjoy watching Alexander Ovechkin and Ilya Kovalchuk and their magic puck dazzling.
Ashlee~, If their skills is flawed, how come they make a large percentage of many teams roster, they are consistently are starters, or on first line or second line players, very rarely you find them on third or forth lines. LetÂ’s take a team like the New York Rangers, a team with a huge reserve in term of $$$ and a hawk GM who was behind the OilerÂ’s dynasty as an example:
Starters and top two lines players (All Euros 'cept for Shanny)
51 Fedor Tyutin Defense 6'2'' 210 Izhevsk, Russia 68 Jaromir Jagr Right Wing 6'3'' 245 Kladno, Czech Republic 81 Marcel Hossa Forward 6'3'' 220 Ilava, Slovakia 82 Martin Straka Forward 5'9'' 180 Plzen, Czech Republic 92 Michael Nylander Center 6'1'' 195 Stockholm, Sweden 8 Marek Malik Defense 6'6'' 240 Ostrava, Czech Republic 3 Michal Rozsival Defense 6'2'' 210 Vlasim, Czech Republic 6 Darius Kasparaitis Defense 5'11'' 215 Elektrenai, Lithuania 22 Thomas Pock Defense 6'1'' 210 Klagenfurt, Austria 23 Karel Rachunek Defense 6'2'' 220 Zlin, Czech Republic 25 Petr Prucha Forward 6'0'' 175 Chrudim, Czech Republic 38 Jarkko Immonen Center 6'0'' 209 Rantasalmi, Finland 14 Brendan Shanahan Left Wing 6'3'' 220 Mimico, Ontario #1 Goalie 30 Henrik Lundqvist G 6'1'' 195 Are, Sweden Backup 80 Kevin Weekes G 6'1'' 215 Toronto, Ontario
3rd and 4th line inserts: 4 Aaron Ward Defense 6'2'' 215 Windsor, Ontario 5 Matt Cullen Forward 6'1'' 200 Virginia, Minn. 16 Jason Ward Forward 6'2'' 205 Chapleau, Ontario 18 Adam Hall Right Wing 6'3'' 206 Kalamazoo, Mich.
Total Goons with meager talent 19 Blair Betts Center 6'3'' 210 Edmonton, Alberta 28 Colton Orr Right Wing 6'3'' 220 Winnipeg, Manitoba 41 Jed Ortmeyer Forward 6'0'' 197 Omaha, Nebraska 44 Ryan Hollweg Center 5'11'' 210 Downey, California
But again, the intangibles. All those 1st line players, but look at the list of C's. Just SLIGHTLY in favour of North Americans.
His name is Peter Forsberg and not Forsburg. BERG means Mountain in Swedish. I used to be a little bit Hockey fan back in the days.
Thanks for the correction B-Max, I can only blame the typo on my admiration for Jews.
Mickey, Even there, I counted about 13 Euros wearing the C, that is close to 50%. That ain't bad considering that this is North American market.
I noted that, but what's signifigant is the first line players you listed absence from that Captains list. two different skill sets. But I just maintain that the skill set possessed by N/A players is more valuable than talent, as my Pavel Bure example high lited.
small country with 8 million ppl just like Somali could produce all of these captains in NHL
Detroit Red Wings: Nicklas Lidström Los Angeles Kings: Mattias Norström Philadelphia Flyers: Peter Försberg Toronto Maple Leafs: Mats Sundin Ottawa Senators: Daniel Alfredsson Vancouver Canucks: Markus Näslund
