Qarxiye the Ajuraan empire did exist and was very powerful, there is nothing exaggerated about the size. They did rule over a vast land. It later became overstretched and was in decline, the hiraab then conspired and destroyed the Ajuuraan rule.

Qaarxiye,

I don't think the Ajuran Empire was ever as grand as that of Nubia or Axum, but in Somalia, it was a major ruler for centuries. Many civilizations have been lost in time without much literature to tell us of their existence. The Ajuran empire has just suffered a similar fate.

I don't know much about myself, but I am sure they did have a legacy!

Who did we kicked out of our present deegan in Garissa area? Ajuurans? my awoowo told me the great Mzee Ibrahim (Reer Jibril, Reer Guleed) the grand sultan of Abdwak kicked wardhay (Oromo) out of the land Ogadeens in Kenya occupy about 160 years ago. I believe him.

When and where did this Ajuuran's empire existed?

Same here dude. The land was liberated from Oromos. Unless the Ajuran empire was an Oromo empire, then it did not exist.

eyes-only, it was a sultanate, not an empire. There is a difference. One shouldn't never compare Somali sultanates with the foreign sultanates.

Diplock, I think the Ajuuraan existed before the arrival of the darood. They ruled over the land, that doesnÂ’t mean they were the majority in all these lands. They were expanding too fast which was ultimately their down fall.

Maybe we just kicked both them and Wardhay out at the same time. During the great Darood expansion, Ogadeens grabbed land equilavant to 4 Ogadenia gobols.

From Ras Kamboni to Buuale to Wajir south to Garissa. that is a big slice of land. Very Happy

Ajuuraan is just like Booran, Oromos, Shaansi, etc and they're not sub-clan or any part of other major tribes. Their numbers were high back then but not anymore since almost the rest of Somai clans fought with them. Most recently, They were added to the .5 ( others ) from the 4.5 formula groupings during the Arta conference in Djibouti as well as Mbagathi Kenya.
