Salahudin, Highclass, etc......

You guys are totally, and completely, missing the point.

If I use the term "extremist" to describe Timothy McVeigh, would you not say that was appropriate? He was clearly extremist in his methods. If I used the term Provo extremists to describe the provisional IRA wouldn't you agree that that is an appropriate use of the word extremist? Well, the Islamists who use violence outside the control of the state for political ends are Islamic extremists.

Muslims, who pray five times a day, follow the basic edicts of the faith, they are not extremists. They're just practicing Muslims. Nobody cares about that EXCEPT:

When the edicts of Islam conflict with the social norms of the society they are living in. That is always going to create a rub whether it is a rub with Muslims or someone else. Example: When I was in high school, the school put up a Christmas Tree in the main foyer. Kids brought in decorations. Some of the Jews complained and the tree was taken down. Now this create a lot of anti-Jewish resentment. Here we had a minority group, claiming religious descrimination (and legally, they had a point - but not morally or practically) and their imposition upon the social norms created resentment against them. If, in your practicing of your faith, suddenly you refuse to participate within the social norms of the society you are living in, you are going to create resentment. In the same way that if I were in Riyadh during Ramadan and at lunchtime started munching on a sandwich while waiting for the bus on a crowded street. I'm not a Muslim, so there shouldn't be anything wrong with it, but I am behaving outside the socially acceptable norms of that society. That's going to create resentment even though I am well within my rights according to Shari'a.
could it be a politically correct name for a Munaafiq :?:

I think this just another DEVIDE AND RULE tactic by the West.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

you got it down to a T. or should that be got the nail right on the head.

As far as am concerned, the term 'moderate Muslim' means nothing short than a sell out. Its a term created by the west to divide Muslims and to turne them against each other. And so far itys working.

Sheikh Sharif was a godd Muslim in my opinion and doesnt fall into that category, but i think America is trying to use that to put him on their side and use him for their own deceitful purposes.

What term would you recommend we use to describe the difference between Muslims who want to blow up trains and fly airliners into buildings, and Muslims who are law abiding and not trying to kill anyone?

I would first ask, why you dont have different terms for christian fanatics, extremist and terrorist?

when ever the IRA blow up things their religion never become an issue and they are only IRA or Irish terrorist. but a man who was bor Muslim and probably never even practiced his religion get into trouble and all of a suden he become a Muslim so and so...

Actually they were referred to the IRA as "seperatist extremists" and "terrorists" - which they were.

But your answer is typical of a Muslim. Answer a question with a question. It's an old Muslim technique to avoid the question.

and how typical of you Laughing

i wasnt trying to avoid your question by answering with a question but rather trying to demonstrate the double standards of the west.

i dont need you to tell me whats an extremist or a terrorist, but since you are the one who gets to define things acording to your needs and for your own reasons; dont be surprised if am little bit paranoid.

There is simply no debating the fact that there are Muslims who are killing other Muslims and westerners in the name of Islam. You can call them whatever you want, but it's a fact. We use the term extremist. If you have a better term, I am all ears.

Terms whether we use yours or i make one up as a 'Muslim' is uninportant for me. I will never deny the fact the there are viciouse and blood tirsty Mulims who would kill at the drop of a hat under the prext of a jihad, but then again every religion have their own fanatics and terrorist.

i just dont agree with this constant obssesion with Muslims.

Come on, man, you are not being intellectually honest here. There are no massive violent Christian movements. There are no massive violent Bhudist movements. There are no massive, violent Wiccan movements..........etc.

The people of those societies do not believe it is legitimate to kill in the name of religion, and the number of people willing to do that is microscopic. Jihad, and for many violent jihad, is an article of faith in Islam. There is clearly a movement, with tens of thousands of subscribers, who believe that it is right and proper to kill in the name of Islam and to further Islamic goals. There is only one religiously based violent, non-state movement in the world today, and that is under the banner of Islam.

just like to share a interesting quote from a British Muslim.

"Muslims who choose to be more western than Westerners make me laugh – do they realize how silly they look to the rest of the world? They hide behind such descriptions as moderate – again what sort of message does that send to our young people?

If we ask them to be moderate does that not suggest that there is something wrong with Islam that it needs to be toned down, diluted?
What is a moderate and what is an extremist? I really donÂ’t know. I am a simple Muslim. I follow no scholars or sects Â… I merely follow The Prophet (pbuh) and the Sunnah.
Does that make me an extremist? I don't think Tony Blair knows himself - I wrote to him three months ago and am still waiting for a reply.

Being a Muslim is a bit like being pregnant. You are or you are not. Whoever heard of anyone being moderately pregnant?" // Yvonne Ridley

There is a lot wrong with Islam, but that's beyond the scope of this discussion.

The issue of moderate vice extremist Muslim is not, as you wold suggest, tied to whether or not one practices his faith and is true to his religion. The issue is whether or not the individual in question submits to the laws of his society and whether or not the individual in question believes he should be killing or coercing others in order to achieve a political / Islamic end.

You are trying to pretend that this definition (Moderate or extremist) has something to do with how the faith is practiced, vice whether or not violence is being used to further religious goals. You are obfuscating when you and I both know full well what the terms mean.

The reason you are obfuscating is because you are sympathetic with the extremists. That is, you believe that it is OK to kill in order to ensure Shari'a is the law of the land the world over. You just don't want to admit it. You belong to the extremist camp.

MAD MAC

All you want to do is to divide the Muslims, make them weak, etc

Islam is one path like I said loads of times, Whatever is refer to as Extremism is not part of Islam therefore word such as extremism and moderate should not be used to referred the way of life for a Muslim , Its not part of Islam to kill innocents and its not part of Islam to reject part of your faith.

You simply don't know what Islam is. I agree with the British Muslim Yvonne Ridley
