Man is made to sin & repent. That's why there's no such thing as confession in Islam, your sins are between you & God unless you publicly announce & broadcast them. Your son outside of marriage should not be something that you regret for the rest of your life. In fact, it is because of the society's pressures that you may have gotten involved in that in the 1st place. That is why the society is so important in the context of Islam.

To you, it might seem like "Why worry about what other people are doing" ....but if the influences of society had not been so severe, then it might have been easier to avoid. The thing with not revealing your sins was to not take away from the weight of the sin b/c human nature will say: "Everybody's doing it so..."

Repentance by man & forgiveness by God is the cornerstone of Islam.

I don't regret having my son at all. I only mentioned it as a reminder to show that as a human being, I also made the choice of having pre-marital sex. I do see youyr point tho, and confession for catholics are just a way of asking for forgiveness for their wrongs. No-one would broadcast it when they do. To be honest, I just did what I did based on my masculine urges. I wasn't egged on by society or anyone. I made a choice and I can live wit it because I know I would do it the right way next time. Its called learning through trials and tribulations. I'm still very young and have a full life ahead. Believe it or not when I lived at my parents, they were the ones who always told me not to worry about females and just concentrate on my education which I did.

Actually, I do think its important because it is something that can be used in apositive light. Its like watching someone who was a gang banger or a prostitute or drug addict turn their life around. I think its facing life's adversities and living through them that enables us to succeed. Of course you will avoid the dangers of those actions but if you can learnfrom someone who's been through it, it will enable you to see and understand things better.

That's exactly what the christians say about repentance and sins. This is why I think some fundamentals of religion remain the same.

O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it.






On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (PBUH), from among the things he reports from his Lord (mighty and sublime be He), is that he said:

A servant [of Allah's] committed a sin and said: O Allah, forgive me my sin. And He (glorified and exalted be He) said: My servant has committed a sin and has known that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for them. Then he sinned again and said: O Lord, forgive me my sin. And He (glorified and exalted be He) said: My servant has committed a sin and has known that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for them. Then he sinned again and said: O Lord, forgive me my sin. And He (glorified and exalted be He) said: My servant has committed a sin and has known that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for sins. Do what you wish, for I have forgiven you.
