Re: Black Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt
Gedo Boy finally got ahold of Gerald Hanley's book loool
I remember PG writing long time ago that Somali males hold this book sacred loooooooooooooooooooooool
Welcome Pragmaticgal.. we missed your learned and relentlessly rational interventions on this board.
You are right that Somalis abase themselves at the altar of Arabism. But I have also noticed that the old Somalis loved the Arabs in the abstract and detested them when it came to real life interactions, whether at home or abroad. But then Somalis are generally xenophobic .. war gaalka xun muxuu rabaa .. War carabkan xunee basasha ka soo ureyso etc ...
At all events, we have a today a new generation of Arab lover who is not content to love arabs and adopt their ways, but this new species of Arab lover Somali wants to exterminate all Somali culture, language, writing. They are sickos who are intolerant and dangerous. They are called Wahaabi.
An example of Wahaabi is Koronto, Voltage, Adan_1. They are sick and demented. And need medicine.

Cilmiile,
I read that book before I got on SNET, it was that other book you recommended for me. "I didn't do it for you" about the Eritrean struggle.
Somalis do not 'abase themselves at the altar of Arabism', but if you consider being Muslim subjugating yourself to the altar of Arabism then I can't argue there.
How can one be xenophobic & harbor an inferiority complex at the same time? Is that possible?
The thing about Europeans is that they could unashamedly borrow or incorporate other culture's contributions without having to be apologetic about it or have a knee-jerk reaction to reject it. We don't even allow ourselves that luxury.
Do you see the British ashamed of their Norman, Celt, Anglo-Saxon, Norse & Roman interactions? Do they throw the contributions and/or influences of those groups out wholesale? Do they reject the influence on Islamic Spain?
People who don't have inferiority complexes don't need to do that.
Should we be ashamed about Arab Muslim influence on our culture?
Do the Brits run around and accuse themselves of inferiority complexes because they were 'Christianized' and call to a return to Paganist rituals?
John, Peter, Paul & Michael are British names now. Why aren't Mohammad, Sa'ad, Khalid, Omar Somali names?
East Africa/Abyssinia accepted Islam even before the Arabian peninsula, we were not forced, subjugated, or converted at the edge of an Arabian sword as was mainstream Europe in their acceptance of Christianity. If anything, it should be them who should have a chip on their shoulder but they got past that.

Re: Black Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt
The flaw with many of you is that you think Islam is an Arab conquest. Islam is not an Arab story, it was intended for the whole of mankind so an Arab who claims Islamic glory for Arabs is claiming something he is not in possession of. That's their problem not mine, I have no insecurities nor will I manufacture one for myself.
Islam is as much at home in Bossasso as it is in Bahrain whether you afro-puff your hair out and call yourself an Afro-centrist or whether you play the violin & call yourself a Euro-centrist.

All the pharoahs save a few were africans and black.... They just weren't Bantu in appearance thats why the white man says they are "CAUCASOID" even though the same racist motherfukkas called Somalis Caucasoid....
Crazy fukkers.
Secondly... Why is anybody seriously taking the Sufi Cilmiile and the Atheist Agnostic whatever Pragmaticgal she is seriously?

Re: Black Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt
Black is a subjective term, what is black?
most of the egyptian population was never as black as thier sudanese brothers, the closer to upper egypt the darker and cushite like the egyptians were, and the closer you got to lower egypt the more medditeranean they looked.
This was becuase egypt was at the crossroads of ancient immigration and this led to allot of mixing.
now egyptian were not cushites not semites and definaltey not sudanic, they were of thier own ethnic group..
there was a brief time however after the fall of the hyksos when egypt was
ruled by a real "Black" Nubian dynasty, but thats it.
