Somalia needs to have a strong diplomatic, cultural and people-to-people relationship with the State of Israel for many reasons. Israel as a country is one of the biggest players in international diplomacy and dealing with them will open many opportunities for a State like Somalia. Israel, much like Somalia is surrounded by series of hostile regimes that are hell-bent of destroying the tiny Jewish state. Israel has always expressed its desire to have relationship with Somalia and was one of the countries that voted in our favor during the Italian occupation. One must remember that the Arabs financed every effort to destroy Somalia, whether during the Somali-Ethiopian war or the continuation of the Somali civil wars.

Having a healthy working relationship with a state like Israel will provide a country like Somalia with a credible friend at a time when our enemies are too great and numerous. Our fore-fathers have had centuries of relations with the Jewish people and there is no reason why we should not further that relationship.

That's not a biggie wallahi. You have to remember it was the Iranians that loaned the F-5s to Ethiopia on an emergency basis. To top it all the Iranians were spying on the Somali embassy in Tehran and intercepting the communication lines and supplying them to Ethiopia. Also, Libya pumped 1. billion dollars to Ethiopia so that its economy doesnt crush and Yemen sent in thousands of troops. The difference is the Muslims were supposed to be our allies and the Israelis were not.
