I know Zackabdul was addressed but I'm gonna respond. First from what I gather, I believe zackabdul was not serious in that other topic, don't get too excited.

Second, you need to stop perpetuating this bullshit theory that marehan, leelkase and others saved 'gaalkacyo' when the truth of the matter is it was mostly Majerteen. Now, that doesn't mean there were no marehan or others in the fight. As I said before, in the civil war it was Darood vs Somalia therefore there were a lot of alliances of conveniences not just in central somalia but south somalia as well.

Even in Gedo region there was majerteen involved in liberating it from Moryaan militias of caydid, in fact wasn't general Morgan the leader of the SNF and lead the fight to liberate gedo? Now, if I wanted to I could say that majerteen liberated gedo but that would be stupid just like it would be stupid to say marehan or others liberated galkacyo. There is nothing worse than internet myths and cyber chess beating that you are engaging here. If this is your way of feeling significant, then by all means, but don't expect people to take you seriously. You expect people to believe that marehan and leelkase saved the city and just handed it back to majerteen? Marehan and others were busy with their own regions, leelkase of course are reer mudug so they were part of the liberation of the city, but marehan? Nonsense.

Caydid specifically signed a peace agreement with the SSDF, here 1993 newsreport

" Before the Americans arrived he(Caydid) moved many of his heavy weapons to Gaalkacyo, about 500 miles north of Mogadishu. The road to Gaalkacyo, however, has since been controlled by a militia of the Somali Salvation Democratic Front (SSDF). At a conference in April, Aideed signed a ceasefire agreement with the SSDF militias and the road to Bossasso is now more or less open."

Now coming back to the development of somali clans after the civil war, you cannot in all sincerity compare marehan, leelkase to majerteen development. Now before puntland was even announced, there was prosperity in the Majerteen lands, remember the northeast was largely ignored by the barre regime and everything built there today was due to the hard-work of the people.


I can confidently say and most non biased observers would agree that majerteen is one of the most sucessful somali clans after the civil war and this is not cyber chest beating but plain facts.

In the north-east there is another Somalia of peace, fat sheep, a booming economy, no begging and community self-help. The north-east is a strip about 900km long by 200km wide, running up the Indian Ocean coast- line to the very tip of the Horn of Africa. It is occupied by the Majerteen clan which is principally nomadic. There is one tarmac road and a handful of towns. The area was largely ignored by the development programmes under the old Siad Barre regime. These were focused in the south, around Mogadishu and its agricultural hinterland. The northeast was termed the "Forgotten Land". If your career failed in the capital you were sent to the north-east. The absence of development, investment, infrastructure and the nomadic pasturalism has helped save the north-east. Everywhere the village elders start talking to strangers by saying: "Security is not a problem in our village. You are free to move and see what you want." There are guns around but they are not openly flaunted. The Majerteen has refused food aid for the north-east and is wary about outside involvement. The planned arrival of 900 Canadian UN troops has been discussed for five months and the approach is "softly, softly". The absence of the dead hand of central government that dragged all trade and decisions down south to the capital has liberated the natural entrepreneurial instincts of the Majerteen. Nobody has received a salary for over two years, yet during 30 days among the people I was asked for only one thing. The Majerteen's attitude to the south is phlegmatic and cynical: Aideed is a madman, and "the clan elders were fools not to have found peace when they had the chance".
