There are many reasons why Allah(swt) permitted the men to marry more wives. Back then and still today, divorced women were never wedded again so they were made outcasts and segregated from their communities. This is why Allah(swt) reccomends us to marry widows and the divorced.

You and ALL the other polygamous brothers in this thread are NOT going to marry divorcees and widows ..we ALL know that..so stop acting like you and your fellow friends are following the Prophets (pbuh)Sunnah
