DHUMAASHI

Your husband is Marexaan...welcome walaal..I had a hint he was...is he reer-koshin?

But yea, as for the topic, like Ismahan I did not know Somali culture, nor the Somali language until my grandmother moved in and I lived around many Somalis. It really takes times, but I would advise that your children learn the religion, and then the good side of the Somali culture--- this could be done through story telling, whether historical or your husbands/family members personal experience and so forth!

We have been concentrating on Islam and learning Arabic. I only know that he is marehan. He isn't into clans or anything. Just the religion. He is actually ultra religious.

IF THEY learn Arabic, Somali will then be a piece of cake.

i vacationed last summer to my small north eastern town in Somalia and i was introduced to a Finnish couple ( the wife being ur namesake Amina) and her Somali husband and their four or five children, not sure tho. the kids seemed to have liked the place and were very enjoying. they even travelled to a nomadic neighborhood. it was a very educative trip for 'em, i guess. have you vacationed to Somalia b4. i think it wud be of a help if ur husbands place in Somalia is quite peaceful.
