Yea, I understand its not somethign stated openly...however Im pretty certain that people in Somalia used to date. They perhaps didnt call it 'dating' perhaps 'shukaansi' is another term. Whatever the term is, it still happend regardless.
But of course...its haram I know.

I would like to know tho, how is talking to a guy on the phone any different? I mean your talking to a man who is not muhram to you. Theres' no jurisdiction on phone because there were no phones at the time of the prophet (SAAW) but I would think it holds true that talking to any man who is not ur muhram either via phone, internet and in person is the same...you cant just start putting levels on things right!

i guess dating in somalia did exist. though i cant recall, but im sure shukaansi inay dici jiray back home, how the f did all them married couples met? it cant all be arranged lol.

and as for talking to guys on the phone: well it depends on the person you talking to, what you going to talk about and how long! thats why i said with limits! for example if a somali guy calls u and says i wona get to know you. then it depends on you to found out if the brother is decent one, how long you going to be chatting to him, and what you going to talk about! you cant chat to any dude that calls u thats dumb, its easy to get hold of people's number baryahan so ilaalistu waa important. but if the brothe's intention to get to know you as in a serious way, and marriege interest, AND if that interest you, then i dont see the harm, though i always say has to have "limits" but if he calls you just for for fun kinda thing, then you know to say, sorry bro, dont date!! thats what i think anyways
