The highway between Garowe and Bosaso costed the Italian government, $150 Million USD.

Marka good luck with your paved roads built with a Boqol Kun budget. Let's see if it's still a paved road after only one cycle of rain and drought, lol. arintu ma sahlana, dowlad ayaa loo baahan yahay.

Actually it's $20 million budget. Secondly Our Population is 2.5 million. Thirdly. The regional airports that are being built, the bossaso to erigavo high-way, bossaso freeway to the port and the massive infrastructure job is coming from multi-nationals. Puntland provides the basic, and attracts foreign investment. That is our goals inshallah. We already got many multi-national who invested 100 million for the oil...50 million from lootah...and inshallah more investments will come.

Instrastructures that are massive is not going to be done by puntland government, well not yet anyways untill the oil starts producing. The foreign investors will do that.

We want to use our oil to open up other sectors in the future anyways like financial market place of somalia in Bossaso. Don't worry about us bro we have 5 year development plan under-way and doing it according to plan.

This concept is understandable for a Mongolian rice farmer, but somehow very elusive even for a PhD Somali

Paidmonk your diaper trail is just wet. Like you said there is a discussion at hand, so stop polluting it with your inanities. So far only Cinque out of the MJs who contributed gave a relevant response.

Osman-NZ,

As long as there's no Central Government, our growth and development is very limited and dare I say, an illusion. Remember that Puntland is a Somali State, not an American State.

Murax,

I feel sorry for Sanaag, another gobol with no paved road whatsoever. One of the projects of the FAI was to pave the road from Erigavo to Bosaso. Before they could start on that road and just finished the road in Bari, the country disintegrated.

That's why our little brothers Warsangeli badana are on some medication since then.

Cinque, well that is not all so true. You can develop if you don't have stable federal government. Just go look at kurdistan and the investments they are recieving whilst they are under shaky iraqi national government. Investors will go where there is an opportunity, if u can provide that opening door for them and also security and stability it will follow thru. As for FAI italy has begun diplomatic ties with somalia which was one of sharmarke scores he got for the somali ppl in the roma conference.

Now fast-forward today farole has taken advantage of diplomatic ties being established between italy and somalia and has called on the prime minister to speak to FAI on resuming the project, which naturally sharmarke obliged and said he would... You can view here.
http://horseedmedia.net/portal/somali/23566/

Lastly...Which region in somalia be it hargeisa or mogadishu have u seen where foreign investors have invested $45-50 million dollars into their airport and port to make it the most modern and up-to-date facilities on the horn. Where have u seen 3 different consortiums place down $70-100 million cash payment on oil exploration in somalia? $3 million into garowe airport?...where do u see that sort of foreign investment in somalia? nowhere..because no investor would dare risk his hard worked $$$ in hargeisa or mogadishu...because their is no hope there...

sland loves to say they have oil, but can they back it up with ppl putting $$$ down on their oil? wa may...why is that? because waa sheeko dadka lagu waalo..lakin we can say that we already have $70-100 million dollars put down on our oil projects, and if they still don't believe their is oil there. Then they need to explain why 3 stock-exchanged listed firms would put down such a money to begin with if they weren't positive?

U see what i mean...sxb Puntland is moving ahead...and we won't be held back by hargeisa or mogadishu. Hargeisa got owned in washington and lost america support and puntland gained new ally in america who pledged to help puntland in everything they require development wise and also their unwaivered support for the federal model of somalia future government. E.U also pledged support to puntland and to help in security development. Now farole is in the u.k and we are waiting to see what puntland gets from there.

If you want to read about the investment into the bossaso airport and see exactly what lootah firm said, go read it from their own mouths..

$45-50 million from lootah multinational making bossaso aiport and port the most modern and advanced in the horn when its done. Aero space facilities even, taxi-rank, duty free shop, 3.4 km run-way, terminals, free trade zone, increasing the port berth to 400% as big as djibouti, modern port facility headquarter and customs. and many more things. go read from their own mouth.

Sxb that is just the beginning of the natural possessions we have and on top ppl actually invest in our region and have hope, whereas other somalis noone from multinational has invested since the civil war. ^^

Iraq is the country with the 2nd biggest proven oil reserves in the World, and the whole Iraqi invasion was for that damn oil, why wouldn't they receive massive investment especially When there is 135,000 US troops there on the ground? Puntland or any land in Somalia will not get anywhere near that type of that development because right now Somalia offers nothing to any particular Countrie's geopolitical interest. Somalia oo dhan is irrelevent Man until We get a robust Governmental structure with nadaam and kala dhanbayn instead of a bunch of feudal states.

None of the resources in and surronding Maakhir will ever be touched by any Somali or administration runned by a Somali in neighbouring regions. The fact that clan and gun rule any foreign including Somalians will be killed if they attempt to touch Warsangeli soil. Like Cinque said Sanaag is the most under developed region when it comes to roads/transportation its all rough roads and the terrain is not possible to move around easily.

Maakhir is rich in proven natural gas reserves and minerals, inshallah once we do secede we will be one of Africas wealthiest nation.

How about Commercially funded projects? Gedo actually holds a considerably good position in Somalia, albeit landlocked, but close enough to both the Kismayo and Mogadishu ports. Besides its got Beled Xawo which is like the only city in Somalia bordering two countries, or something. I'd say, prove the case for being able to fully protect these "future" trade routes, both in and out, with a solid "government" entity, and you'll start to see great incentives for many to start investing in paved roads for the "Somali" region of Gedo.
