Somalia's state religion is Islam because 99.99% of its people are Muslim but there was religious freedom and the fact that not only did a Cathedral of that magnitude exist in the middle of downtown in the capital city but also had its own Bishop accorded to it by the Vatican proves as much. What else need for other churces was there?.

You missed the whole point here. I told you that church and others in the downtown Mogadishu were built colonial era, before Somali became a state. And there was NO, I repeat, NO a single church which was built while Somalia was government. I am not sure if Somali Christians had freedom of religion since Somali constitution stated clearly that a Somali person can be only Muslim, before it was changed in 1979.

And Damn! yes, there was a need of many other churches because all Christians are not Catholic. How do you feel if you were told you can only pray in Shia masjid?. I know many Americans who are Protestants, who never attended nor had anything to do with that Catholic Church. And these Americans and others didn't have any church of their own.

The fact the Bishop was killed months before the overthrow of the very government that existed just points even more to the tolerance that existed. Why was he not killed when the government had controlled the control in the 70's, and early 80's but mere months before the government itself was overthrown.
