Bro, herding camels is unsustainable. It is what is caushing deforestation and in the future it will lead almost all of Somalia's nomads forcefully become sedentary. As for my topic, I want to take your grandparents and repatriate them around the world, gradually becoming a part of this world as we have. But I admire your fierce sense of nationalism and patriotism.

Voltage how about if we stopped talking the talk, stop being passionate observers and actually do something about it.

lets walk the walk bro and start a movement, I mean for too long we have cheered and apposed other people experiments.

It's time to do our own.

basic point am making is Somalia is mess'd up for a reason it may not be the only reason but it plays a vital role.Somalia was not complete from its inception, it was missing vast amounts of its land, so it never was given closure from the injustices of colonialism. With no closure it has relentlessely pursued this objective of re-unification( even during the SYL days) instead of focusing on nation building and the sort. With this ending in failure, Somalia took the turn for the worst, without the institutions that could have worked as safety nets, it crumbled. My point is Somalia's problems are as a result of the policies left behind by the Colonist, just going back to the initial remark i made in which you dismissed.

Cultural issues may play a role as you have stated before but my point here is without the toxic mix of Colonist legacy perhaps we could have moved on from this.

I dont think you get me...I didnt say I wanted to change their way of thinking, I merely said that we should come up with a structure that accommodated the egalitarian nature of our society

You say:
illiterate, arrogant, and ignorant
I say:

Oral, competitive/proud and under educated  Its not idealism, its looking to the positives so that a solution can be found. If you have already reached the depths of despair, how can you come up with a solution? You think everything is doomed to fail...I happen to disagree..how is that Western?

I understand where your coming from. Sometimes i think only a miracle will help us. Funniest thing, I was watching a BBC programm about a british girl returning to Kabul Afghanistan and walahi in the midst of a war it was more developed then any Somali city i've been to. Despite years of taliban rule and american bombardment it was more developed the all the cities in Somalia. Honestly i'm proud to be Somali, but not proud of Somalia. Theres def still hope though.

BTW - Camel herding did not cause deforestation loool Building every house from scarce wood, using wood for the fire and not to mention the real culprit..illegal logging for mass export to countries like the UAE.

Somalis are anarchists by heart and conduct, barbarians and brutes in war
This describes human nature in general, its not exclusive to Somali's, read Leviathan?
Somalia is a failed experiment.
What does this mean? You would have preferred the colonial powers divided us into clan kingdoms rather than provide us with the best means of survival in the modern word, a nation-state? :?

Voltage do not lose hope there is always a solution.
usually there are several workable solutions..

you just have to think outside the box..

for starters why have the 17th attempts failed so dramatically?
what do they share in common?

If you've never lived under the rule of law, any attempts to establish it will be perceived as someone trying to curb your freedom (to do whatever the hell you want, more or less) and I can't see that going over well with people who've lived all or most of their lives in anarchy.

Is this why you brought up my name? lool, I mean it lighten up  For a kid who has never seen Somalia, barely reads about it, you sure do have a lot of opinions on the matter. By opinions I mean, broad sweeping statements which aren't constructive and presented as though you are privy to the future, save it
