Abyssinia was once confined to merely Axum!
The rest of modern ethiopia was Oroma, afar, somali and others with related languages. Consolidation of modern ethiopia is post colonial.

Abyssinia of course was a different story, but they never got their claws into Somalis, as the story of the Dervish would be a perfect example.
History is long and drawn out the fact is you seem to bend and twist history to your own likely to justify why your clan region should be separate and most of the arguments spoken about the need for indepdence is the famous line of "we were independent from Somalia for 5 days, and we joined with them, but we are different"
If someone outside spoke the way y'all do I swear to GOD they'd bring out the straitjacket.
Thats not correct!
The Ottoman were not in the same time as Ahmed Gurey. Ahmed Gurey died in 1543 and the habes (Abyssinia including somalia) region of the Ottaman was establised in 1554.
The Ottoman Empire began in 1299 and ended in 1922. But the rise of the Empire was mostly in the fifteenth and early sixteenth century. Ahmed Gurey died in 1543.
Let me give you a bit of history. It was around 1540, when the Ottoman Empire responded to Ahmed Gurey. Somalis who are brave and resilient people never needed the help of anyone to support them. But it was the Ottoman Empire that helped Ahmed Gurey when the situation between the Somalis and Ethiopian seemed in a stalemate (mostly because they shared the same religion). Thus Ahmed Gurey was defeated by the Ethiopians when the Portuguese lend their help to them. Nonetheless it was for nearly 16 years Ahmed Gurey fought successfully.

LOL @ this. You my friend are Isaaq by ethnic tribal denomination. The first time you register anywhere in recorded history is when the British fought the Dervish. You basically have no history as one of the undocumented around the world.

And your five minutes of fame has expired no amount of rewritten history will change the fact that your acestors history was is nothing. You were nothing yesterday and are nothing today. I was something yesterday and still something today. Go back to your cave in Gedo before you start holding your candle to the sun assuming your history shines brighter. The only thing that shines is your ignorance.
What does a boon from Gedo no about the kings of the north. We brought your time in civil society to an end. Forget history tells about today. Mighty Marexaan.

I counter disagree! I think history is written as we go along. Nevertheless it's an interesting and fascinating topic to discuss.
History is simply what happened in the past. It's gone and it's done. We learned about it so we don't repeat it.But we do not learned so that we can feel important and glorify our existance. Today will be tomorrow's history. How we do now will become either positive mark or negative draw back in our historical archives in the future. That is why Somaliland will be remember as great step in Isaaq civilization and that is why Afwaynists, shababists, pirates will be rmember as the plaque that ruined the very fabric of what once was Southern Somalia.
