I travel a lot and I can tell you I'd give Dubai Airport 5 starts against any other one that I've ever been to in terms of immigration/customs process. It is a class of its own

I was in queue and was singled out by the black Arab security guards on more than one time. They asked to see my passport while the same white people who I share a passport with were treated with respect.
also, how do you conduct yourself? do you act Somali? whatever that means?

I also remember flying out of Dubai and seeing a Somali with a Canadian passport but with African accent and mannerism being given a hard time while I passed through.
I was in Dubai airport a couple of months ago, I didn’t have any problem, the only odd thing was the officer refused to speak Arabic.” I greeted him with salamu calaykum” and his reply was fine and yourself? Then he asked me where I will be visiting I told him Suuq Dahab, he said Gold market?
God bless America and their passport.
At customs it was all young guys in their early to mid twenties, they all didn't care about anything, and I think there was a somali with them. It's just going through customs, coming back into the airport and trying to go back out into dubai is what pissed them off

If you are American bred Somali and have American mannerisms, I would assume you get treated differently than if you are a fresh maryooley who has just past the time length for citizenship. I have traveled through many airports and the most courteous towards me have been Arab and European airports (Netherlands is my top airport in terms of how I am consistently treated by customs and even Egypt was not bad). For my above assumption, I remember once flying out of Nairobi and I was treated as expediently nd courteously as any Westerner while two Somalis with British passports but with African accents and mannerisms were treated harshly. I also remember flying out of Dubai and seeing a Somali with a Canadian passport but with African accent and mannerism being given a hard time while I passed through. I have also flown out of heathrow on one occasion without any hassle only to look back and see a fellow Somali American from Minneapolis being given a hard time because he seemed like the typical Somali. I flew out of Edmonton, Canada just recently a Somali with me on the plane was given a hard time as well while I didn't even so much get more than a few one liner exchanges with customs. I would say it is not only Somalis, I have flown out of Cape Town once without any second looks while Nigerian and Ghanians with Western passports were treated as if they had to be vetted entirely. The one airport where I was ever treated as I would assume some of the Somalis in this topic were treated was in Minneapolis and that's because I had flown in from international during a time when the Somali kids stuff was going on. I was taken out of the line up, put in a room to wait for 20 minutes and had to answer very private and confidential details about my life that they had answers to. Still, they let me go after 5 minutes and I was able to board my transit plane at the last second.
p.s. The only other airport I had ever gotten a hassle was Vancouver, BC and that's because I had flown in internationally on the same day as the would be Nigerian Christmas bomber. Let's just say that was not the best experience of my life.
this is typical case of keeping up appearance or keeping up with the joneses.
sxb a somali is a somali whether he is a a' marooyel' or 'american bred' and the faster you realise that the better u will feel about yorself.

I hate that shid. Its all about sucking to ajnabi
That was twenty years ago. Now they pick on everyone regardless of their nationality. However, they only pick on you if you try to act high and mighty when they approach you with their questions.
The reason they pick on some Somalis is the fake passports. You see, the airport gets fined if any fake passports get through to any Western destinations (I bet they don't stop you if you're going to India or some such country).
I had no problems at Dubai airport, but Abu Dhabi airport was another story (Hardly anyone who works there speaks English!).
Some fat carab geezer gave my passport to some random guy and told me 'No problem'.. Walahi I dissed him for like 30mins straight (both in af Arabic and English).. He gave me my passport back and I got into no trouble waliba
I got stopped at Fiumcino Airport (Italy) for a good while.. I must have charmed them as they kept saying 'wow Soomali' and doing a narrow face-shape expression with their hands
