That's Somalia's 'uranium' belt, and the possibility of offshore oil on the coast of Mudug. Otherwise I agree that it is generally featureless and boring. Likewise other arid regions like Bari-Calmadow and Nugaal valley have prospects of oil, and Ogadenia has natural gas and possible oil, this leaves Djibouti and Northwest as being...totally and utterly worthless and hopeless.

Except Awdal, there is vast oil reserves off the coastal strip from Lughaya to Bulacado, plus the mountainous regions have many diamond and iron deposits. Not to mention that the numerous salt deposits off the coast of Toqoshi which is potentially very good.
