Re: regional differences in Somali words
90 percent of gabays come from waqooyi and galbeed. If you guys in the center speak proper Somali why is it we monopolized the oral history. Its like an American coming to an Englishman and saying my English is the standard English. Its dumb.
If you guys can provide prove we can speak but for now its a fact proper afsomali is from the north, the south speak different because of the amount of non-somali blood they have absorbed.

Bisad/Mukulal= Yanyur
Abriq=Kirli
Malgacad=qaado
Gaweeto=Baquuli
Salad=Danbil
Dhulay=Heergaab.
This Djabouti girl was like "Dulay ba ii haayo." I was like "waxaa ku haayo?" after few minutes of confusion I finally understood that is what the qaldaan's call heergaab.

That is true , Mudug dadka degen meelkasta dh bay galiyan meel aan dh u bananayn bu dh galinaya wa qalad.
Lahjada Saxda wa ta galbeedka iyo ta Reer woqoyiga.
Re: regional differences in Somali words
Reer Galbeed Or Reer Waqoyi shit don't matter as long as people can understand you.

The dialect that is published in Somali literature is the reer mudug Dialect not the reer Hamar or the reer wooqooyi that is a fact. It is absurd when people claim that reer wajooyi/reer galbeed speak the proper Somali dialect.

Re: regional differences in Somali words
too me the reer galbeed and mudug have the same dialect i dont know for the waqooyi. but when people use the mudug dialect, it is mainly used for being a model that is balanced, it is linguistically pure and masculine, it stands out whereas the af xamar is very borish and childish and the waqooyi is cabaad and too feminine while being high pitched. as far as words and meanings, it is the same at the end of the day. i cant distinguish if the words i picked over the years fit another any of these dialects that you mention, shid i might alternatively use mukulaal and bisad on different days.new-york24 wrote:I never understood how people came to the conclution that mudug has the proper af-soomali,true somaali is spoken by reer galbeed iyo reer waqooyi.

Re: regional differences in Somali words
reer galbeed don't even the same accent nor do the qaldans in the northwest. you can easily tell a habrjeclo from burco from kuwa sacaha/lo'da dabadda ka afuufa oo reer gabiley. mudug accent is indeed the standard somali accent.

Re: regional differences in Somali words
To me if anything i see the mudugawis as wannabes oo iska doon doona a rich dialect,the waqooyi and galbeed have complete monopoly on the somali language,the oral history of those regions are proof of that.
Archer,when i say waqooyi kuma eka burco iyo hargesa..am talking ilaa sanaag.From lasqorey to qabridahare the accents might be different but their superior command of the somaali language is the same.
