the problem is glorifying individuals. individual cannot do anything with out people his side. when we stop glorifying them. whole nation cannot depends on ashkhaas!!
even tfg now , we support them or against it because of an individual !! loomaba arko qof somali mathalayo.
You are right. There is no point of glorifying individuals when they did not do it alone. Aideed had help and support. He was not alone. He couldn't do it alone. No one can. That only happens in movies and fairytales.

Deal with what I asked you, instead of diverting the subject. You created this topic to insult a dead man and bring his sanity into question and have your clansmen call him moryaan. yet others are banned for insulting other dead people. seems to me, there is a double standard going on around here.

Melo,
My Adeer was part of the USC who advised him AGAINST listening to the Hawiye elders and defending them from the very regime that Ali Mahdi's allies were trying to bring back. The Aideed wing should have pulled back to Beletweyne until the "naive" Hawiye like Ali Mahdi saw that the Jeberti even those in his government were out to regain their absolute power back.
Waryaa,
The Daroods tend to portray them as victims who were suddenly set up in 1991. They white wash over the atrocities committed in the name of Daroodism by the military & state security apparatus in the late 1980s against the Issaq and Hawiye.
The most pivotal moment which really got Aideed to become a rebel were the massacres of the HG especially the Sacad in November 1989. Many Sacad civilians who were NOT USC were slaughtered in Mudug including some close family. These atrocities were committed by the Barre regime especially by a man called Dhagobaceyr. The Somali National Army with support from local Marjeteen tribesmen attacked innocent Sacad civilians in Mudug. When Aideed heard about these massacres, he swore to break the back of those who committed them. He did so in just less than 13 months.
The sad reality is that MSB offered the Sacad money and power if they helped put down the Majeerten SSDF in the early 1980s but the Sacad refused to be involved in oppressing the Majeerten. Many Majeerten fled and hid in Sacad villages during the crackdown. Instead of returning the favor, the Majeerten were active in promoting war against the Sacad in the late 1980s.
So if there was no crackdown against the Issaq and Hawiye, there were would have been no Aideed, Tuur, etc.
Aideed was not the best General that HG had but he was the only fearless one who toke a stand and was willing to die to depose the brutal regime. I will always respect the man for taking a stand when others shied away.
BlueLovelyLady,
Shabelle was a fearless man. He stood up and fought when it was not popular. His contribution to tolka can not be forgotten. Another great fighter was Carabeey, the vanquisher of the SSDF/Dofaarqiiq in Galkayo. His stealth operation in the middle of the night broke the Darood forces in Feb 1991 and had them running in all corners.

Hyper,
I apologize for forgetting to include Adeer Jees. He was a fearless colonel who lead a wing of AntiMarxist Ogaden called SPM. He again stood against the Siyaad regime after seeing the very many atrocities it was committing. His contribution and that of the SPM can not be underestimated.
Today, I hope the Ogaden support the modern day Jess, Prof. Gandhi, and reject the modern day Gabyow, Ahmed Madoobe.

asamad, aisde from emotions, can you look @ him as the man who changed somalia's political landscape. This man unseated a 20 or so year old government, once controlled all southern somalia and for some mysterious reason could not succeed in becoming the next president. What puzzles me is the fact that Somalis either love him or hate him, which makes the legacy he left behind unrealistic and hard to understand.
