Re: Inbreeding
Sometimes I dunno if I'm reading an cadaan forum or a Somali one...we're Muslims, SMH @ people calling it "inbreeding" and making it sound disgusting when our religion allows it.

My great grandmother told my mom as a kid to avoid first cousins. I wonder what she knew!

At the end of the day, Islam shapes my principles, not Western ideology. I'm not saying something is qasab cuz it's halal, I'm just saying it's beyond reproach and we have to respect it.MrSinister wrote:religion also allowed slavery, doesn't mean it's a good idea.yungnfresh wrote:Sometimes I dunno if I'm reading an cadaan forum or a Somali one...we're Muslims, SMH @ people calling it "inbreeding" and making it sound disgusting when our religion allows it.

Re: Inbreeding
I suppose life is simpler that way and you're entitled to that view. But at some point, I believe common sense/reason(not western ideology) should take priority.yungnfresh wrote:At the end of the day, Islam shapes my principles, not Western ideology. Re: Inbreeding
The problem with common sense is it shifts and constantly needs to be contextualized...it's too subjective and what made sense yesterday might not make sense tomorrow based on environment, social norms/customs and the availability of different information. When your moral compass is guided by your faith in Ilaahay, you always arrive at the objectively correct truth, even if you don't understand the reason why.

Re: Inbreeding
Nasty. lol my mj cousins (on my mum) side cool though I have more contact with them even though they live abroad! They tell me not to marry a Ogaden man because they're cheap. My Ogden cousins the one of my dad side who I rarely speak with tell me to stay away from mj guys--they're womanizers and irresponsible.abdi.ismail wrote:I don't know how many offers I've had to marry my first cousins, it's not right. No wonder there are so many crazy somalis.
